Dauphin Rotarians heard a luncheon program by the community service committee on boys work, the lack of suitable accommodations, and the need for greater civic support. Speakers outlined local scout and cub groups, with about 196 cubs and 25 boy scouts active, and discussed the International Scout movement as a peace effort.

Mrs Joshua Law Injured In Icy Street Slip
Mrs Joshua Law sustained a fractured arm Monday after slipping crossing the highway in front of her residence on 2nd Ave NW. She was taken to the hospital and is reported as doing as well as can be expected given her age. a reset may be needed. No other serious accidents were reported as authorities spread gravel on main arterial streets to reduce crashes.

Funeral Services Held Wednesday For Fred Baggett
Frederick Baggett longtime railway official and representative of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees at Canadian Northern died suddenly in Winnipeg. Born in England he moved to Canada in 1897 settling in Gilbert Plains later Dauphin where he worked for the railway. He was 55 and survived by wife Harriet and three children. Funeral services were held at Dauphin United Church with burial in Riverside cemetery Vermillion Lodge No 68 AF and AM conducted the services.

Poppy Day Drive Set For Saturday November Ninth
Poppy Day activities led by the La Verendrye Chapter and Dauphin Collegiate girls include street sales and house to house canvassing on November 9. Armistice Day services require wreath organizers to assemble at the town hall at 10 30 a.m. The Flanders poppy represents remembrance of Canada’s war dead and funds to aid veterans and their families.

Funeral services for Robert Murdock Morgan of the Fairville district were held at the Dauphin United Church. The 64 year old former teacher turned farmer died Sunday after a brief illness. He taught at Spruce Creek and Fairville schools before farming. He married Emma Parker in 1906 and leaves four sons John George Arthur Robert and six daughters Mabel Esther Eva Bertha Kathleen and Mrs Cliff Pollen. Burial at Riverside cemetery with pallbearers Oliver Abraham F Baylis R Smith J Torrie J McKillop and Robt Miller.

Mrs James May 64 Dies After Illness in Hospital
Mrs James May a Dauphin district resident for 32 years died at Dauphin General Hospital Friday afternoon after a long illness. Born Anne Jane Buchannon in Ireland she married in Parry Sound Ontario in 1890 and moved west to Manitoba with her husband. Survived by husband two daughters Mrs A A Hoy Dauphin and Mrs Frank Baird Winnipeg and five brothers. Funeral Monday at Dauphin United Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
