A catalog note offers satin Georgette crepe Pique and Muslin collars and a range of curtain rods. Brass extension rods extend from 36 to 52 inches and 60 to 72 inches with pricing from 1 cent to 60 cents.
Exemption board rulings shown for numerous applicants across Laurier, Dauphin, Gilbert Plains and surrounding areas. Several individuals, including R. Geo Laurier and Geo Norgate, are disallowed while others such as Sproule, David W Ratley, John M Bassett, Marcil Pain and E A Breese receive allowed status with deadlines noted.
Recitals by the pianoforte pupils of Miss Pearl M. Tucker were held in May. On Friday evening the Grade II and some Grade I pupils performed to an encouraging audience. The following afternoon Mr and Mrs G A Hunter hosted a home gathering with Grade I and II pupils sharing solos and duets. Culberton sang with sister Mary on piano. A later recital for advanced pupils occurred Friday evening the 17th at Mae and Mrs Chase home with two duets from junior pupils and solos by Mrs Heaslip and Mr Hunter.
The Sunday morning topic at Pauls Church will be Self Surrender with an evening patriotic service on Knighthood in Flower. Sunday school moves to 10 am for summer. morning and evening services at 11:15 and 7 pm. The Dauphin District and Manitoba Conference meet in June. Dr Chown to preach.
The Dauphin War Committee held a May meeting with strong attendance. The executive adopted a war period constitution. The Food Production Committee reported 1180 cultivated lots with 1250 expected, discussing prizes for war gardens as diplomas and storage needs. The Food Saving and Press committees outlined menus and publicity efforts, while Finance debated a central canvass for charitable funds. Everett spoke on Europe, urging a higher ideal guiding world order.
Mrs. Thomas Jordan announces Edith McFarlane to David O. Watkins with a June 1 wedding planned. Mrs. William Hall unveils Christina May’s engagement to William McIntosh and a June 5 Methodist church wedding at 9 30.
Fragmentary notices report a child named McMittasx to Mr and Mrs Carl Me Mi, a Blapey birth at Melton on May 28 and a Thackfranger event at a manse officiated by Rev S A Martin. Also a Wm Rott marriage to Eva May Anger of Ochre River.
Mr. John Jr. treasurer of the Revel Nouderpaine of Dauphin raised a cross Yorkshire Berkshire pig. The porker weighed 360 pounds and earned a $56 cheque after a local butcher weighed it. The story suggests hogs as a money maker for raisers.
Pte James Cheshire of Dauphin died at Brandon on the 22nd lnst. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Wim Cheshire and lived here nearly all his life. Enlisted in Brandon in January. The funeral, held Friday, was military with the 90th Regimental band and a firing squad from Brandon Depot Battalion. Service by Rev E A Anderson. Attending from outside included Mr and Mrs Wm Cheshire and Mr L Currie of Dauphin and Mr and Mrs W H Willis of Region.
Rules restrict beef and veal to evening meals only and forbid beef or veal on Wednesday or Friday. Pork may be served at evening meals only on Sunday and Tuesday, with noon meals allowed only on Monday and Saturday, while pork is banned on Wednesday and Friday at any meal.
Geo Kuzio of Massey River appeared before P. M. Hawkins on Wednesday. He was arraigned for using seditious language, given a preliminary hearing, and committed for trial.
The Cel ergof UVauphin chair held its annual meeting on the 27th with strong attendance. I T Malcolm chaired, Robt Hawkins acted as secretary pro tem, and T T Malcolm, Robert Smith, and Jas Wait were elected overseers for the year. The group debated building a pavilion and recommended the overseers proceed with construction this year.

Included are Rosamond, Bere Lie Makinak, Clarksville, Duck Mountain, Mackenzie town, Whitmore town, Swan River, Perth No. 875, Gilbert Plains No. 60, and other entries. Murray chairs the Foster Home Committee.
