Drew Tour Opens Western Campaign in Dauphin
George Drew accompanied by Mrs. Drew drew a record crowd in Dauphin for a public address as he began a two week western Canada campaign. The Progressive Conservative leader urged tax cuts, budget reform, and a government with fewer taxes and more accountable spending while warning that Liberals and Socialists could form the next government. He criticized wartime tax levels and called for economic policy openness and a stronger dollar and pound exchange to broaden markets.

Milk By law Amendment Proposed By Council
Town council favors amending the milk by law to require all Dauphin milk suppliers to have their herds tested for Bangs disease annually. Dr O McGuirk reported 26 of 28 herds tested for TB were healthy. only 12 tested for Bangs disease. The by-law seeks to prevent sale of milk from infected cattle in the town.

Council Institutes Parallel Parking By law on Second Avenue block
The council approved a by law to permit parallel parking on the north side of Second Avenue Northwest and extended immediate parallel parking to Main Street from Fourth Avenues Southeast and Southwest Fifth Avenue Northwest and any street with a boulevard. The by law sets parking with the curb within one foot of the boulevard and a three foot clearance. River Avenue Court House parking requires a 90 degree angle to the curb with the head within a foot of the curb.
