Miss Hook of Holland brings lively Dutch farce to Dolphin stage
The Dolphin Theatre presented Miss Hook of Holland a cheerful musical comedy last week. G. H. Crimes starred as Mr Hook with Mrs McNabb as Sally Hook and E Phillips as Slinks entertaining the crowd with antics and songs. The production directed by H A N North featured lively orchestral numbers under conductor Chas Padley and a chorus of over fifty in bright costumes.

Bencharski Committed for Trial on Murder Charge
Following the coroner inquiry into Nykola Koscum’s death at Dauphin General hospital on May 3, Paul Bencharski of Shortdale appeared before Magistrate Hawkins on the charge of being concerned with the shooting. He was committed for trial at the next assizes. Counsel for the accused was A Wawryniuk and for the crown C S A Rogers KC. Also noted, Miss Alice Muse, Manitoba’s representative in the dominion oratorical contest in Toronto, placed third.

Dauphin Lodge No. 31 Knights of Pythias held a Friday meeting in the castle hall to reorganize district activities. Officers elected for the year include J W Johnston as Chancellor Commander and E C Batty as Vice Chancellor plus several other posts. Jas Tierney, injured by a horse kick May 18, remains hospitalized with complications. Fires Target Homes and Barns Across Town On Weekend
A string of suspicious fires struck the town over the weekend. At midmorning Saturday a barn owned by John Holowyk and a nearby residence belonging to Alex Warkole caught fire near Ninth Ave and Tat Street. Firefighters fought flames but could only curb spread as structures burned. Sunday evening a fire destroyed a barn on Harry Divinsky’s property at 5th Ave 3.E. and goods in storage. Around ten hours later a vacant house vacated by J Zynch esyn burned behind a hospital complex. A fifth call Tuesday morning reported a chimney fire behind Dauphin Milling Co. and was quickly controlled.
