Light and Power Situation in Dauphin Reported

Consul ting and resident engineers assess Dauphin's electric and power system for the Council Public Utility Board. They will submit a By-Law at the June 8 meeting seeking authority to borrow 75000 dollars to fund improvements and debt service.

Spring Session of Dauphin Presbytery at Grandview

The Presbytery of Dauphin met in Grandview United Church for regular business and a missionary rally. Rev. Dr. J. A. Cormie presided with Rev. John Jackson as secretary. delegates from multiple communities attended. A round-table session and an illustrated Formosa talk by Rev. Duncan MacLeod highlighted foreign missions. Robert Bruce Watson was admitted as a candidate for the ministry.

Dauphin Elks Open New Club Rooms Friday

Dauphin Elks Lodge No. 57 hosts visiting lodges from Minnedosa Russell and Winnipegosis for the opening of the Falcon Block club rooms. A large social program featured Neepawa Blackhawks orchestra, elegant supper table decor and a tour of the new lounge and ballroom with Impressive furnishings and a caretaker suite.

Large Audience Enjoys Sunday Musical Recital at Dauphin Theatre

A large audience at the Dauphin Theatre heard Professor Williamson pupils and local talent in a Sunday recital. Miss Berniece Bell of Grandview soloed Mendelssohn Piano Concerto in G minor with full orchestral accompaniment, a first in Dauphin. Murray Sperani played two violin solos while Mrs. Winters accompanied. Others performed Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Sinding, and Handel. The concert featured orchestra and choir selections but arrangement issues affected tonal balance.

Fokker freight plane damaged near Dauphin after takeoff

A Wing's Ltd Fokker monoplane en route to Winnipeg from God's Lake was damaged west of Dauphin when a barbed wire snag on a soft field caused a crash after takeoff. Pilot K Murrey and engineer A E Phillpots escaped injury. The tail was smashed and a wheel torn. plan to move fuselage and wings to Winnipeg by motor freighter.

Two Draw Games Open Dauphin Football League Season

The 1936 Dauphin football season opens with three teams in action. Collegiate and United drew 1 1 on May 12 with Kerr scoring for United after a late penalty equalized by Ferguson. Rangers and Collegiate drew 2 2 on May 19. Little scored twice for Collegiate and Nicholson both for Rangers. Lineups list players for all three teams after two fixtures.

Maintenance of South Highway Discussed by Councils

Dauphin town council Rural Municipality council and the Dauphin Board of Trade met Friday to plan repairs for eight miles south of Dauphin to Riding Mountain National Park. They cannot fully finance but will cooperate to get the road into shape and seek a provincial loan of a road maintainer.

Clark Motor Co Garage Burgled In Dauphin

Burglars broke into the Clark Motor Co. garage on South Main Dauphin early Sunday taking 31 dollars from the cash till kept in a back room cash box. Entry was through a rear window. Town police investigate the theft.
