Roblin Forms New BPO Lodge No 132 Amid Festive Installation

Under A F Mc Kenzie's direction in Roblin a new BPO Elks lodge No 132 was formed on May 14. Col Royal Burritt of Winnipeg installed officers, Dauphin No 57 aided with the initiatory degree, and 25 visiting Elks from Dauphin Winnipegosis Grandview and Kameack attended. A 69 guest banquet followed with Roblin Mayor Irwin delivering greetings. Jas F Baine becomes exalted ruler with H S McFadden as secretary. Dauphin visitors included Mrs Elimer McNabb who sang.

Cottages at Dauphin Beach Hit by Thefts Early This Week

Thieves entered several cottages at Dauphin Beach during early last week stealing numerous items. C. W. McLachlin suffered the greatest losses including clothing, kitchen utensils, and linens. Dr Beweil reports curtains and axe among stolen goods. Beach overseers offer a $25 reward for information leading to convictions.

Anniversary Service Draws Oddfellows to Gilbert Plains

Dauphin Lodge No 26 and Alexander Rebekah Lodge No 13 members joined many Oddfellows and Rebekahs from nearby areas in Gilbert Plains for Masketay Lodge anniversary services. Rev T B Watson delivered the sermon on The All seeing Eye. Ochre River farmer Hans Ruder dies by his own act

The Ochre River community mourns Hans Ruder a 32 year old farmer and former German army officer who died by hanging in his farm home. Partner Anton Homojt found the body after the dinner hour with no struggle shown and no motive evident. An inquest was deemed unnecessary and local officials noted no clues or disposal instructions. A separate item noted gravel contract tenders with W J Paterson submitting 2 shillings per hundred?

Schedule Revisions Announced For Local League Playoffs

New teams entered last week, prompting schedule changes and assurances of ample warning for future revisions. Standings list teams with games needed for next week starting Tuesday May 25, including matchups CNR vs Dauphin United and Town vs D.C.1 on Friday May 28.

Town Tennis Club to Host May Tournament and Exhibitions

The Town Tennis Club announces a two day tournament on May 22 and 24 featuring Men’s Doubles Ladies’ Doubles and Mixed Doubles with an entry fee of twenty five cents per player per event. Entries must reach the secretary or executive by Friday night. Children’s Aid Society hosts tea sale and fortune telling event

A silver tea and sale of home made cooking candy and fortune telling will be held under the auspices of the Children’s Aid Society on Saturday May 22 from 3 30 to 6 p m in the Club Billiard hall next to the Hamilton hotel Everyone is invited to attend.

Northern Manitoba Good Roads association calls a town hall meeting in Dauphin on Friday May 21 at 7 30 pm to finalize the organization and plan the 1926 dragging competition. The executive listed includes President W H Durston and Mayor Fraser among others.

Dauphin District Boys Work Board prepares for the National Athletic Meet in Dauphin on May 24 open to boys 12 to 20. Boy Shot Through the Neck Near Trembowla

An 11 year old son of Tony Paulit living near Trembowla was accidentally shot through the neck by a younger brother with a .22 rifle on Sunday. The bullet entered under the chin and exited the back narrowly missing the jugular and spinal column. He was treated by Dr Trimble and is reported to be doing very well. The parents were at church at the time of the accident.

Organization of Retail Merchants Reorganizes in Dauphin

Friday evening the retail merchants of Dauphin met in the town hall to reorganize their local association with delegates from wholesale and manufacturing trades. John Gardner was elected president and A A Brewer vice president. Wm Cameron serves as secretary pro tem. An executive committee was named to finalize plans for the provincial short course in merchandising set for May 27 and 28 in Dauphin.
