Dauphin is chosen to host the International Flying Farmers regional convention in mid April next year with 300 to 400 attendees and about 100 aircraft expected. The Dauphin chamber of commerce pledges a welcome mat and support from local groups to ensure a smooth event.

Freiheit Construction Ltd of Dauphin wins a 35000 tender to build a 40 by 40 foot Agassiz ski patrol building at Mt. Agassiz. The federal Public Works department funds the project, due for completion by end of July, with sub contractors Russell’s for electrical work and Morris Schwetz for painting and plumbing.

Former Dauphinite testifies at science inquiry
Dauphin-born Marven Bednas a scientist with the National Research Council testified at a public inquiry on April 22 that a soil sample from a site on March 1 which cost the lives of 28 persons showed presence of either natural gas or the odorant mixed with it according to the Ottawa Citizen April 23 issue.
F V Dumouchel to retire after fifty years with CNR
F V (Vera) Dumouchel train master road foreman with Canadian National since 1916 will retire June 30 after a long service career. A May 18 golf cart gift and a May 18-19 smoker featured tributes from supervisors and colleagues. Dumouchel began as an engine wiper in 1916 at Radville Sask and held multiple roles before becoming road foreman in Melville Regina and Dauphin, now planning to reside in Dauphin and golf in retirement.

Approval of a National Housing Act loan of 34 867 to Winnipegosis to fund a sewage treatment plant. The 20 year loan at 5 percent supports a pumping station 2855 feet of six inch forcemain and a stabilization pond. Potential forgiveness of 25 percent principal and interest by March 31 1967.

Concert By Bands and Cowlerettes Honors Four Members
A town concert awarded four young musicians with trophies and bursaries. Roger Watson won the Dauphin Boys' and Girls' Band most valuable member plaque and miniature trophy.
