Town council committee received 22 loan applications and spent the evening explaining eligibility and building specifications. They resolved to accept written applications until 4 p.m. Wednesday so they can prepare a report with recommendations for Thursday's council session.
Mr. T. M. Harrington arrived from Brandon on Tuesday and will supervise the new theatre project on Main street. Excavation work began this week as construction proceeds.
The List session of the Grand En campment of Manitoba will be held at Dauphin on Friday June 8. It is expected that about seventy representatives will be present. The program is now in course of preparation.
Judge Bonnycastle unveiled a Memorial Tablet at the Bank of Commerce in a ceremony attended by 30 to 40 guests. Mayor Malcolm spoke, biographies of Lieut J Anderson Cadet W A Gilbert Flight Cadet W G MacFeeters and Pte W G McCarthy were read, and 1701 men went to active service with 258 losing their lives. The Rev Harry P Barrett dedicated the memorial, followed by the National Anthem and tea service.
In the Royal Billiard Rooms fans watched Sam Townson, the local talent, defeat Manitoba champion Tom Brownlie after a tight set of four games. Townson clinched the final 2–0 decisive win to take the series 62 15, with Browlie erroring on easy shots that could have altered the match.
Barney Doran trains Billy Groff for a Manitoba title clash in Winnipeg Osis on May 24. Seaman Smart, former Lightweight British Navy champion, believes he can win the Manitoba title from Groff in a cyclonic showdown led by Doran’s team.
A Burrows school district meeting will be held at the school on Wednesday May 25 to consider consolidating with Durston and Mountview districts. Mr Fletcher deputy Minister of Education will be present to speak.

Max Stogran of Sifton was arrested by provincial police in Winnipeg on a trial diary charge. He allegedly stole $139.45 from the British America Elevator Company and forged cash of the same company using grain tickets.
The Provincial Taxation Commission will sit at Dauphin on Saturday June 11 with representatives from twelve municipalities. The meeting aims to equalize municipal assessments among the communities.
A special School Board meeting on Monday evening decided to name the new school Smith Jackson in honor of an early secretary treasurer who served the district for many years until death.

The notice outlines fishing laws for Manitoba from the Dominion. It covers close seasons for pickerel pike goldeyes jackfish from April 15 to May 31, weekly close times, prohibited gear such as explosives and bare hooks, and a prohibition on fishing in Lakes Manitoba and Dauphin from March 1 to November 19. It also bans damming rivers or introducing deleterious substances. enforcement is by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
