Fire destroys Wm Thompson's barn near Ochre River
Fire from the feed loft completely consumed Wm Thompson's two year old barn near the Ochre River bank. Helpers saved the horses and cattle before the building burned. Thompson was away tending to cattle at Ste Rose when the fire started. the barn was insured.

Town Protests Dauphin Equalized Assessment
Cast week Mewers 11) McDonald and J W Johnston on behalf of the town council traveled to Winnipeg to lodge a complaint before the Manitoba Tax Commission over the proposed equalized assessment figures for Dauphin. The assessment raised the local building value by 252000 and a stormy interview followed. Registration of complaint is asked for but adjustment remains uncertain as Mr. Watt the commission assessor reviewed the file and buildings, noting some figures up to 50 percent higher than erect cost. He praised the town for having strong assessments and said he could not yet say what the commission will do.

Jack Miner the renowned naturalist and wildlife expert will visit Dauphin around mid October. Dauphin Tennis Club Sets New Season Plans
At the general meeting held on the 9th officers were appointed and membership fees set. President W J Collins, Vice Mrs Dennycastle, Treasurer O W Struthers, Executive Mrs Zworon Miss Astley N B Douglas H Ingram. Juvenile members aged 12 to 16 may join at 2.50 with restricted hours. The club joins the Manitoba Tennis Association and may host Northern Manitoba Championship games in Dauphin. A groundsman ensures courts stay ready. Challenge lists for men and women to spur participation. Inter club matches and a regional league are contemplated. Target membership is 100 and the club refuses to be a closed corporation.
