H McKae and Victor Buchanon appeared before P M Hawkinson on charges related to an alleged assault. The charges against Buchanon Penvidic and McRae were dismissed. McRae was convicted of common assault and fined ten dollars plus costs of six dollars forty nine cents.
A broad selection of white Turkish towels priced at 40c 50c 60c 70c and 1.00 per pair is advertised. The sale emphasizes value across multiple affordable price points.
A stock of Tennis and Vacation Shoes offered in black blue tan or white. Available sizes range from small children to large men. Prices from 75 cents to two dollars.
Mrs. E Prieur opens her residence at 102 Fifth Avenue West for a church fundraiser. A silver tea, sale of home cooking and ice cream run from 3 to 10 pm on Saturday May 19 with assistance from congregation ladies. The Young People's Dramatic Society presents the Deacon's Courtship in the town hall on Friday night June 1.

The Dauphin Auto Livery announces it is again operating and invites public notice of its return to service.
The summer sitting of the county court, Judge Barrett presiding, heard eight cases. Gammie vs May et al resulted in judgment for the plaintiff for 380 plus costs. Graham vs Anderson et al. awarded judgment for the plaintiff against Anderson with costs of default. non suit as to another defendant. Other dockets included Renfrew Machinery Co. vs McDonald petition, and Hutchinson vs Prasiloski for next court. Rider costs and court fee total 15 dollars.
The Woman's Missionary Society of the Methodist church elected officers for the year on the 16th. Hon. President Mrs. Spence. President Mrs. Bewell. First Vice Mrs. Free. Second Vice Mrs. Rogers Kee. Secretary Mrs. A. E. Iredale. Assistant Sec Mrs. J. A. Gorby. Treasurer Mrs. Purdy. Assistant Mrs. J. Code. Corresponding Sec Mrs. Stelck. Finance Leader Mrs. Spence.
The week began with the finish of wheat planting. Grain was sown under favorable conditions and is already taking root in many fields. Acreage is expected to match last year’s total.
Gavin Strang moved 90 bushels of wheat to an elevator after seeding and received a cheque for 4.35 dollars. The payment reflects the salvage value of the remaining grain as recorded in the local transactions.
Arbor day drive by the Red Cross yielded a 250 dollar collection. Jordan led the effort and much of the success is credited to his energy and leadership in gathering old metal and papers for sale.
The Dauphin Plains and Valley River churches schedule a Grain Growers Service on Sunday May 27 to discuss social, economic and material issues from a Christian viewpoint. GGA men are urged to attend to set a record for church attendance. Morning topics include Seed Sowing and its Results and What is Christian Worship or a Meditation and 84. Evening subject is John the Baptist’s Message to Our Day with a sermon on what the prophet would say today. Strangers are welcome at all services.
John McIntosh of Valley River is a hospital patient this week. Mrs J H Kelly and daughter Mrs Marks returned from Winnipeg. The Art Embroidery club meets May 22 at Mrs Rod Riddell's home. Dont miss the Deacons Court ship at town hall Friday night. Mrs Currie of Gilbert Plains convalesces after appendicitis. Saturday morning millinery bargain offers 25 hats at 3.95. H C Purdy & Co Chief Bridle reports stock impounded and bills of costs rising. The Girls' Auxiliary of St. Paul's church will hold a ten cent tea at the rectory on the 22nd. Proceeds will go to missionary work.
At Dauphin on May 14 a daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Walter Marcroft of Winnipegosis. At Dauphin on May 6 a son was born to Mr and Mrs Walter Mansfield. A third brief note records a birth to Mr and Mrs Percy Wood.
The list records several casualties including Ben Karyk and Danaphin killed, Leslie Lintick wounded in the neck, Black MecKussock killed, H. Murphy son of Robi warty died of tetanus after wounding at Boulogne France, J A Justice seriously wounded and H Nicodemus of Ochre River also wounded.
Registration begins Monday with lists to include women for the first time. Any British subject twenty one or older who has lived in the province one year and three months can enroll, regardless of sex. Locations and dates for registration span May into June at multiple houses and halls, urging all eligible men and women to register and vote.
BE. H. Gurton records the transfer from Mrs. Caroline Herchmer to Adam Kuzyk for the S. W. property section 36-2421. The sale reflects a private transaction noted in local records.
Mrs C W Wellman will not receive on the third Friday of this month nor again until the autumn. Miss Herman the hospital's lady superintendent will leave next month for New York to take a three months post graduate course.
The local improvement committee of the Council of Women plans weekly trips to the cemetery to aid its upkeep. A. E. Prentice will run a jitney service every Wednesday from the post office at 2 p.m. to the grounds, returning at 5 p.m. for 25 cents.

Merchants Merrell & Smith sold Fords to Jerry Fichaud and Nat Little of Fork River. A Boston bond salesman recalls a Ford sale backed by 400 barrels of potatoes. The Automot club urges car owners to join. J Gorton buys a Maxwell from Agent Rowatd. A Dauphin resident plans to invest in a flying machine as cars become common.
The S A S will hold a card party at Mrs. Gooch's home Friday 18th. Friction in Winnipeg between the Great War Veterans and Returned Soldiers' Associations leads the Dauphin RSA branch to refuse cooperation with the S A S on May 24th. The bazaar is postponed until September with plans to host similar events in the meantime.
