The Week's Casualties Reported

Pte Ernest Smith of Dauphin was killed in action and Pte A J Marcroft of Winnipegosis wounded. This marks his third wound. Pte T Laquette of Ste. Rose was killed.

Appeals Board Hears Numerous Dispositions Tuesday to Today

Judge Bonnycastle presided at the Appeal Board across Tuesday and Wednesday and again today, disposing of a large number of appeals. Many applicants were granted extensions or disallowed, with several individuals allowed till November 1st and others facing disallowance across towns such as Roblin Dauphin Deepdale Glenella and Winnipegosis.

Dauphin War Committee Holds Fourth General Meeting

The Dauphin War Committee's fourth general meeting convened Monday May 13 at 8 PM in the town hall with Mr. Bowman presiding. The executive favors on time meetings, noting crowding and renewed public interest in war work and long term victory. The Finance and War Charities Committee was named, and notices of motions will be reviewed by the secretary. The executive favors keeping Monday night for general meetings, cites gardening and war gardening film plans for May 17–18, and reports 48 more vacant lots assigned for cultivation. The Food Saving Committee lists officers and subcommittees and a Cadman appointed to align with ongoing work.

Dramatic Society Appeal Raises Funds for Military Aid

The Gilbert Plains Dramatic Society presented A Noblenes in Dauphin to a warm audience. Proceeds benefited patriotic causes, totaling 188 dollars. Jumble sale donations ranged from 25 cents to 5 dollars, with thanks extended to Baird Nicholson and helpers Harkness Paul Griffin Keats and Thompson for handling the sale.

Man’s Lost Bill Recovered Rewards Red Cross Donation

A local resident found a lost bill advertised in the Herald offering a five dollar reward. The finder turned the bill in this office on Wednesday and the $5 reward was donated to the Red Cross society. Diogenes would have stopped his lantern at such a honest man.
