On Arbor Day Monday cool weather and rain limited tree planting but many citizens worked in gardens and lawns. Parks Board under Mr E B Armstrong planted about 140 elm trees along Main Street North from Fourth Avenue, urging property owners to protect new plantings to prevent damage.
The Tennis Club hosts a dance at Rose's Pavilion Lake Beach on May 24. Bryce's bread is praised as the best, and a recommendation urges use of It for this event.
The Collegiate beat CNR 83 in a cold damp opener. McDonald struck out 13 for Collegiate before leaving due to cold. Veal HeardMachan paced CNR. Umpire Geo Rawson officiated. Intermediate League schedule of 18 games set, first May 16 between CNR and Collegiate. Pat Johnston joins Winnipeg Tigers. Donald Walker joins Arenas as pitcher. Dauphin seeks senior tryouts. Mrs Mary Vance Weir 74 longtime Dauphin resident and former Torbolton Ont native died May 4 in a Brandon hospital after a period of illness. Funeral from son Nobles home to Riverside cemetery Dauphin with Rev Philip Duncan officiating. Survived by husband five sons two sisters and three brothers. Pallbearers listed and mourners from nearby towns attended.
The Star Club announces an informal dance at Town Hall on Tuesday May 16 with the Dauphin Theatre orchestra. Admission is 75 and 50 cents. A Ben zough entertainment on June 6 will aid the Children’s Home.
Dr. Crossley at seventy two remains energetic delivering sermons and speeches in Dauphin Manitoba praising youthfulness faith and Old Bible teaching. The semi monthy Town Council meeting chaired by Mayor Smith sees Mr Wallace submit a petition for a Thursday half holiday in June July and early August. Debate ends with shelving the issue for a gentlemanly accord. Wallace also questions town taxation prompting a challenge to propose a method to cut expenses. Discussion of rats on reclamation grounds leads to a wholesale extermination plan. Fire boundary unchanged. Finance grants for 1922 approved including Parks Board Rest Room and others. Milk by law amendments approved with Chief Everett as sanitary inspector. Tenders for river embankment work and Wakefield Ave bridge to be invited. Advertising for a tuning expert to visit Dauphin. Bairds Home Rendered Lard praised.
The document lists officers including Honorary President Mrs E Wright and President Mrs W G White with several vice presidents, a treasurer, secretary, organist and committee members. It notes Dominion voters must re register to appear on provincial lists for the forthcoming election as Dominion listings are not carried over.
It is understood that about eight of the present staff of teachers will sever their connection with the school at the end of term in June. Of this number four will go elsewhere to teach and two or three are said to be contemplating matrimonial alliances.
The Dauphin Beaver Football Club schedules a practice and meeting at Smith Jackson grounds on Friday May 12 at 6 30 pm. A full turnout is requested as business is considered important.
The Citizens' Band will give a concert and dance in the Town Hall on the evening of May 24.

A Dauphin Chamber of Trade meeting discusses reinstating Col Munro as assistant taxation inspector if Mr Whyte is replaced. Mr Gibb, Manitoba taxation inspector, notes Dauphin-Brandon offices serve local taxpayers and supports Munro alongside Winnipeg staff. A resolution endorsing Munro's return was passed, with McKay currently in charge.
