Thursday meeting in King Robson and Clark preside as residents seek water and sewer. Council raises police pay to 40 dollars monthly and considers social hygiene grant. Veteran CN Railways engineer Mr Jas Turner retires

Mr Jas Turner a veteran locomotive engineer with Canadian National Railways spent Saturday in town renewing acquaintances. He made his last run on March 31 from Saskatoon to Prince Albert after 47 years of service. He and his wife will move to Sarmian where they plan to live. He worked long with the Dauphin division and is well known to the town’s older citizens.

Sudden Death Of Mrs Wooster After Evening Out

Mrs. Wooster wife of Horace Wooster died of a heart attack on May 3 after returning from a movie outing. She collapsed with coughing before medical help arrived. Survived by her husband and three children, the funeral was held May 5 at the Anglican Church with Rev. Bourdin Dies After Kick From Stray Laurier Horse

Alexis Bourdin a 49 year old resident born in France and living alone near Laurier was kicked in the abdomen by a horse on Wednesday. He crawled home to his house before dying Thursday evening at Dauphin General Hospital. His burial will be in Laurier.

United Church appoints mission field students in Manitoba

The Manitoba conference announces appointments of multiple students to mission fields. Names include Bield R J, Maries Cold Lake, McLeod Dauphin Plains, Beech Lonely Lake, Berry Grandview West, Empey Magnet, Gustafson Portia, Peterson Sifton, Wiznuk Stanley Smith South Dauphin, Porter Swan River, Spurrell Renner, Barnard Umatilla, Armstrong Wabowden, Brown The Woman's Hospital Aid meets at the hospital with Miss Cotter as superintendent and approves 570 for sun gallery construction.

Coroners Inquiry Opens After Shortdale Shooting

Nokola Kokum died in hospital after a two man dispute led to a shooting. District coroner Dr. Rogers empanelled a jury to inquire into the death and adjourned the inquest to May 11 at 2 p.m. Witness list and Paul Bencharski held by police noted.

Local Injuries Reported At Dauphin Hospital May Seventh

A roundup of patients admitted to Dauphin General Hospital includes Stuart Kirkland of Ochre River burned while igniting gasoline on May 7 and Paul Miska of Gilbert Plains injured examining dynamite caps. Also listed are Ronald Paul age 12 injured at a birthday party, and updates on other local patients with 33 in the hospital.

Mr Robt King arrives as the Mauphin division superintendent after serving at Winnipeg Fort William Cochrane Brandon and Calgary He moved to Dauphin from Calgary Judge Robt Hawkins of the Dauphin Judicial District spoke to Rotarians on the Child Welfare Act and Juvenile Delinquency Act detailing parental responsibilities.

Funeral of Isaac Silverwood in Dauphin

The funeral for Isaac Silverwood, who died after an icy lake accident on April 3 near the Valley River, was held at noon from Furrell's Undertaking. Rev. A E Cousins officiated. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery. pallbearers included Robi Cruise Dan Hamilton Robt Hawkins Archie Espien Dr Gunne and J B McIntyre. Joseph Clarke led the recovery effort with a special logging chain contrivance and assistive locals, recovering the body shortly after ice went out, near the site of disappearance.

Dauphin Beach Tennis Club to Hold Annual Meeting

The Dauphin Beach Tennis Club will meet at Town Hall on Saturday evening May 12 at 7 30 for election of officers and business. Dauphin Oddfellows led by N G 8 Solomon attended a Baptist Church parade with over fifty members and guests from Grandview and Gilbert Plains. W D Bayley director of scientific temperance instruction in education spoke at the Normal school visiting Friday. He demonstrated teaching temperance to Whitmor public school juniors and addressed a public meeting in the institute assembly hall with M Steprinc presiding and Cyril Rice singing.

Change in CN rail service adds six day Winnipeg to The Pas trains

Canadian National Railways will inaugurate a six day a week passenger service between Winnipeg and The Pas starting May 21. Train No 15 departs Winnipeg at 10 00 each day except Sunday and arrives at Dauphin same as before. Train No 16 departs Dauphin at 8 10 for Winnipeg. Dauphin gains three extra trains weekly each way.

Libraries for Hospital and Children's Home in Dauphin

Rev P McGrecor Manitoba representative of the Upper Canada Society recommended two free libraries one for the Dauphin General Hospital and one for the Children's Home after visiting the city over the weekend and consulting with officials he decided to place a free library containing one hundred suitable books in each institution.

Shrine of misplaced values noted by Mr Watt at council meeting

Local Council of Women met Monday in the rest room with a smaller yet keen audience. Mr Watt spoke on the shrine of misplaced values, reviewing fifty years of costly fires in Canada and stating Fire Protection is National Economy. Mrs Vasbinder reported a League of Nations drive: eleven ordinary members, fifty seven associate members, money collected 84.50.

Golf clubs prepare for month end competitions

Both Country Club and Community Club courses are in excellent condition as early work progresses. Competitions at each club are planned to start around the end of the month.
