Dauphin Council Discusses Purchases and Street Plans

The regular council meeting addressed offers to purchase block 23 plan 243 and block 26 plan 24, with motions to reject as low bids and discussions on street curbing and dust control. A grand sidewalk petition was found out of order and a tour highway proposal along the Dauphin route was reviewed amid tourism plans and local water and fire committee actions.

Sale of Goods Made by the Blind at Red and White Stone

A sale of goods made by the blind will be held in the Red and White Stone on Friday May 5 from 3.30 to 6 pm and Saturday May 6 from 3.50 to 10 pm. The event is under the Local Council of Women with basketware leather goods and house dresses for sale.

McFadden Speaks at Neepawa on Railway Route

J N McFadden president of the Dauphin Board of Trade spoke at Neepawa on the northern Manitoba railway situation. He argued for a Dauphin Swan River route to The Pas via a Mafeking cut off, challenging rival Gypsumville and eastern Manitoba options with figures and projections. He noted Neepawa’s park negotiations and was joined by D D McDonald W H McDermid and A N Coupe.
