Plans call for new war financing measures to double or more the investment by Canadians in Victory bonds and War Savings certificates. Bonds of 50 and 100 denominations will be sold publicly during major Victory loan drives to boost sales of war savings certificates and stamps.
The Dauphin Little Theatre will present a closing program at Town Hall on Tuesday evening May 12. The concert proceeds will go to the Red Cross through the local branch. Miss Mary Hamilton directs the musical portion and Mrs. B C leads the play.
Commercial Travellers association members see ratings drop from D1 to A and some to C, prompting Dauphin travellers to form a central committee. The change lowers ration units from 280 for D1 to 168 for C1 and 60 to 67 for A1 and A2, significantly curtailing travel fuel.
Police patrols report enforcement of parking on the correct side of streets in residential areas. Residents, accustomed to easy curb parking on boulevards, face tickets as officers crack down this week.
The Board of Trade awarded a five dollar prize to Wallace Weir for a photo about weekly activities. Over 100 entries featured early Dauphin history, including three images displayed in Goodhand's window showing district grading with a twelve-horse team, Hamilton hotel construction, and Main Street from the early 1900s.
O C Knight is named president for the 1942 43 season by the Dauphin Badminton club at the April 27 annual meeting. Other officers include Vice President Mrs Don Grant Lee Ian McDonald Secretary K Armstrong and Vice Secretary Jean Haddrell. The executive committee lists Mrs A T Warnock Mrs C S A Rogers Mrs J Oliphant Jr Mrs J J Lysecki and O C Steele with Don Grant.

A Dauphin Adams doctor named Little from Dauphin is among recent Medical Council of Canada examinees. He will receive his degree at the University of Manitoba convocation this month.
A local army recruiting report shows 691 men have applied for enlistment since last July with 45 accepted, about two in three applicants being medically fit. Last week 21 examined and 11 signed for active service, while seven men began recruiting this week. Major Maris H. Garton praised Dauphin centre as one of the province’s best. Through ten months the call has been steady, with the peak week 42 before the medical board, though weekly applications this year have not surpassed the October record of 108.
Safety patrols started this week with eight boys from each school in charge of traffic at key points before and during school hours. Lions Club sponsors urge public cooperation and remind residents to model good traffic manners. Belts owned by the Lions are being tracked and returned to police or school principals if found.
J. E. Ramsden elected president at the Dauphin Country Golf Club annual reorganizational meeting. The directorate includes Jas L. Bowman Robi Fagen C B Steen J J Crowe E W Hawkins Judge F E Simpson R W Dicks Dr Ramsden. R W Dicks reappointed secretary treasurer and R I Steen named course manager.
Heavy March snows left subsurface moisture behind and ditches filled with water or snow. Frost rising slowly creates many soft spots and a spongy road through Riding Mountain National Park. Trucks are barred until safe. cars should avoid the route though some still use it.
J. G. Vance returning officer for Dauphin federal constituency arrives in town today to conduct the official plebiscite count from the poll held April 27.
The society appeals to Dauphin residents to donate urgently for Canadian Red Cross efforts. Funds support food parcels for soldiers in Germany and Italy, comforts for the armed forces, blood donor services, and supplies for the United Nations. The Red Cross also funds St John Ambulance and recently raised $750,000 for Russia relief.
Rainfall recorded last week totals 1.58 inches. Cumulative rainfall since April 1 also 1.58 inches, compared with 1.06 inches for the same period last year, per Searle Grain Co.
