Memorial design chosen for soldiers' monument in town

A public meeting in Town Hall selected a design for a Great War memorial. The Renaissance pylon featuring Miss Canada will rise 25 feet on a raised concrete base near Station Park, with white marble panels and a Tyndall limestone pylon. The local architect H J Payton submitted the design and E Pilgrim of Dauphin will erect it. The committee was reappointed with power to add members. Also noted is the Women's Missionary Society annual meeting and officers for the coming year.

Notable Winnipeg Theatre Run Delights Audiences

The Northern Manitoba Permanent Players staged a witty farce with Mrs Tara and Mrs Taradine as central figures. Strong support from Mrs Palmer Miss Chapman Mr Elmer Mr Crimes Mrs Wilkins and Mr Bateman highlighted sharp pacing vivid acting and skillful scenic design. The McMurray orchestra provided fine accompaniment and praise went to the troupe for clever up to date plays and a promising spring summer slate.

Confirmation Service at St. Paul's Church

An unusually large congregation attended morning service at St Pauls Anglican church for the confirmation of about thirty five young men and women. His Grace Lord Archbishop Samuel Pritchard Mattheson preached and performed the laying on of hands, stressing a spiritual birthday and a higher life after confirmation. He urged pure thoughts and deeds and noted Rogation Sunday next. The service closed with prayers and hymns as the Archbishop prepared to depart for Gilbert Plains.
