Alexander Rebekah Lodge hosted a Friday night White Elephant sale with clowns by Odd Fellows initiates. Auctioned elephants brought $30 and crochet handbag tickets $34.50. total proceeds $85.10 fund a motor ambulance for front boys. Miss Tur doon held winning ticket. program featured readings music and addresses.

A dwelling owned by Mr. Mostain in the Valley River district burned on Tuesday along with most of its contents. On the same day Mr. James McQuay suffered a substantial loss of green feed to fire.

Quiet Fraskinestan wedding ties Bryce to Hamilton

A quiet wedding was solemnized at the Fraskinestan church on Wednesday evening April with Robert Haney Bryce marrying Miss Jean Luzelle Hamilton daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hamilton. Rev. S A Martin officiated and the wedding party included close relatives and a few friends. A wedding breakfast followed at the Hamilton hotel.

Pie social and concert at Gartmore school May 22

A pie social and concert are planned at Gartmore school on May 22 to raise funds. Proceeds benefit the Red Cross and Y.M.C.A. Funds from the event will support local relief and community programs.

Waste becomes illegal to encourage reporting cases

Wilful or careless waste of food is now illegal and the public can notify authorities. Municipalities keep half the fine when securing convictions, while provincial officers receive the other half. Woman Expires in Jail After Insane Trip

Mrs. Hattie Beaver wife of J M Beaver postmaster at Campsie Alberta died in the provincial jail here on Monday morning. She and her 3 year old daughter left Edmonton for Oklahoma when she became violent on the journey. She was taken off the train at Dauphin and placed in jail where she expired about 9 o clock Monday. An inquest found death by heart failure and urged immediate medical aid for inmates in ill health and called for province wide inquiry into how she was allowed to depart home unattended while ill and insane. The jury included Geo King foreman H E Fraser and others.

Captain Forgie to Speak on Red Triangle Campaign

Capt A Forgie former YMCA officer who served with the first contingent and fought at Vimy Ridge will address the town hall on Wednesday March in connection with the Red Triangle Fund Campaign and Earn and Give effort for teenage boys. The Red Triangle aims to raise 2 250 000 on May 7 8 9 to aid Canadian soldiers at home and abroad. The talk promises insights into conditions in France and the overseas program.

Court of Revision Hears Town Assessments

Court of Revision for the town met as scheduled and heard appeals far fewer than in prior years. Outside a few minor corrections the assessment was sustained. Over three years officials spent time equalizing the town assessment and this year’s appeals indicate the process remained fairly well satisfied with the results.

The Ladies of Dauphin and district plan a meeting in the town hall at 8 o clock in April to organize a local branch of the Woman s Auxiliary GC W V The event aims to elect officers amid a large attendance expected. Mrs B departed for the metropolis on Thursday for treatment in Rochester.
