Bill Cumberland, 17, of Dauphin earned an honorable mention and $40 prize for placing eighth in the Manitoba province wide two part mathematics contest for grade 12 students. The event drew 482 competitors from 83 Manitoba schools and was sponsored by the Canadian Mathematical Association and the Winnipeg Actuaries Club.

John and Justyna Duch retire after 38 years serving Dauphin and district. They arrived in 1927 from Gilbert Plains, built a market gardening and bedding plant business starting in 1931, expanded to wholesale, shipping plants to Flin Flon and other towns, and later added greenhouse work. Symphony Under Feldbrill Set for April 7 in Winnipeg
