Assessor Leroy surveys the poll tax roll showing 325 names with 66 left town. About 275 residents remain liable, and 125 have voluntarily paid at the Secretary Treasurer’s office, with costs totaling 12.56 dollars once court fees are added.
Dauphin County LoL announces a special meeting in LOOP Hall tomorrow to welcome the newly elected Grand Master for the province. RW Thomas Boyd will preside and a banquet will follow in the evening.
Mrs F E Clark aged 52 died after illness she was a horsekeeper for Mr Blackmore and lived in Grandview survived by husband and one son. Funeral Tuesday at Riverside cemetery Rev Neville officiated. Wem Blackmun William Plackmun 76 Gilbert Plains died at hospital December 27 buried Chatsworth cemetery. James W Brown aged 51 died March 28 at James Norton’s residence born Strathroy Ont moved to province 51 years ago long-time Melton district resident funeral today at Riverside cemetery Rural Dean Barrett led service.
On Thursday evening the Baptist choir rehearsed at Mr and Mrs J Lister home. About thirty congregants who lay in ambush at Mr H W Smith suddenly dashed into the dining room to surprise the newly married couple. Chieftain R C Smith announced the purpose and presented a pair of pictures as a gift. Refreshments followed as merriment filled the evening. A separate note says a Baptist party was hosted by Mr and Mrs Lock at Mountview Tuesday evening.
Sanfield Collison died at Ochre River on March 15 at age 75. He was born near Brinston Corners, Ontario, lived in Blue Earth City Minnesota, then moved to Gehre River 26 years ago. He leaves a wife two daughters Ethel and Helen a son Benjamin a stepson Howard Mytes and many siblings and is interred at Ochre River cemetery.
Over two weeks officials rounded up dog owners and dogs without tags. The campaign intensified with twenty animals destroyed. Roughly ten dogs remain roaming town without tags or identification.
Town schools close for Easter tonight and reopen Monday April ?. Teachers head to Winnipeg for the Teachers' Convention with most planning to attend.
April 11 regular meeting highlights Comrade Thompson from Togo as a caller at the rooms and met many boys overseas. Ladies Auxiliary ran two banquets and weekly dance and card party, with thanks from the branch. Masquerade ball scheduled for April 5. Spearing back at school. Knight returned after medical board visit. Tait transferring to Swan River. T. T. Wilson greeted with congratulations. Country Club dance supports the branch with proceeds from McMurray orchestra.

The Irish Concert at Pres Drerian Church drew a large audience with Empress numbers and solos by Mrs Jas Oliphant Mrs E Heaslip Mr W J Collins and violin by Mrs Grebb. Madame Binkley readings and piano with Miss Pearl Tucker received warm applause.
Manitoba University professor H F Roberts will visit Dauphin in May to hybridize select plums from Boughens Nursery with peach varieties at Valley River. The project requires fencing to prevent theft of the hybrid fruit and includes a talk to the Dauphin Horticultural Society, aiming for strong attendance. He helped develop a widely grown wheat variety in Kansas.
Two Grandview rinks tried to lure the Cruise Challenge Shield away but local skips Harrington and McGirr led a defense. The shield remains in the clubroom at Dauphin Grandview as Humes of Grandview trail by points. Twenty two prisoners are in the jail, mostly bootleggers, well fed per Grand Jury notes.
Preliminary returns from the canvass indicate the Woman's Hospital Aid has already collected roughly eight hundred dollars.

Town Hall meeting despite snow decided to form an Intermediate league with clubs likely the Elks, C. N. R., Collegiate, Town and Farmers. Officers elected include Hon. President J. J. Crowe, President G. R. Watson, Vice R. T. Craik, Sec Treas J. W. Fowlie, Asst Sec Treas Jas Ball and executive representatives.
The Jewish Beth Zion Society of Dauphin presented a number of nightdresses to the hospital. Committee ladies Mesdames Slopen, G. Ellis and H. Divinsky are credited for their untiring efforts. Special Holiday Matinee Friday at 2 15 PM at the Dauphin Theatre.
