Manitoba plans 1952 road program totaling 13.82 million dollars announced in the legislature by acting public works minister F C Bell. The budget allocates 11.21 million for new construction and 2.62 million for reconstruction and maintenance with 3.57 million for the Trans Canada highway shared with the federal government.
Dauphin Kings defeated Lloydminster Huskies 5 4 in ten minutes of overtime to advance to a best of five semi final against Keewatin Millers for the western Canada intermediate championship. Tamblyn scored the overtime winner with a hat trick lead by Rzesnoski and Hill.
A proposed amendment to By law 1962 would require all town businesses to close Thursday afternoons regardless of other holidays. The motion, introduced Feb 25, followed input from the chamber of commerce and the retail merchants association, which sent 159 letters. 39 replies were received, with 27 in favor and 12 opposed. The council approved the amendment after consideration.

Bill Murray and rugged teammate connected on a left corner drive as Piper received a ten minute misconduct for disputing a call. Washington held strong in overtime defending repeated charges while Rzesnoski and Murray failed to break through. The period featured a decisive late counter at 7.43 by George.
Lemuel Elmer Morris, 69, of Winnipegosis, was charged with murder for the March 18 shooting of Milo Leonard Carlson. He is held by the R C M P in Dauphin, with the court remanding the case to March 31. Coroner Bashuky plans an inquest tentatively set for April 2.
The local Red Cross drive for funds is advancing slowly says secretary D H Sneddon. About $700 has been returned though groups have not finished turning in collections and only one rural area submission is on record. canvass to finish by month end. committee hopes for a substantial sum soon.
Town engineer Ed Lundman wins council approval to call tenders for an emergency reservoir on the chlorinator site in the south end. The 80 by 100 by 12 feet deep tank will hold 500 600 thousand gallons at a cost of 32 200 dollars and start by May or June.
Lloyd Sneath, Dauphin civil defence co ordinator, returned after a two week Ottawa course at the civil defence staff HQ March 10 to 22. The conference drew 32 volunteers of area co ordinator rank or higher and will lead to revised manuals. Noted participants included Gen Worthington Dr G Davidson Dr E E Massey Lt Col R H Kleahn and other officials from health defence and external affairs.
The D.M.C.C. board reviewed arena rental pricing and scheduled a joint finance and management committee meeting to set rates for spring summer and fall events. May 30 amateur program by B P O Ellis approved with $50 fee. Dent Brothers June 24 implement show, $50 fee. Girl guides rally May 28 granted at 50 percent discount. Rotary Casey show June 26 27 28 approved at $50 per day. Committee to hire part time secretary authorized with next meeting in April.
E H Lange principal of Brandon agriculture homemaking will speak on the final evening of the five day Dauphin boys and girls short course to be held April 14 to 18. Awards will be presented April 18 in the MacKenzie school auditorium.
