Paul Stokotelny longtime Canadian resident and early Ukrainian pioneer dies at home at 92 after a short illness. Born May 15 1845 in Nura Ukraine he came to Canada in 1897 settling first at Keld then Dauphin and finally town. Survived by his wife two daughters Mrs M Puchalski and Mrs M Pawlovitch and two sons John and Steve. Funeral services held at Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church burial in Riverside cemetery.
Easter music program at Dauphin United Church features morning service with Anthem King of Kings by Caleb Simper a soprano solo I know that my Redeemer Liveth from Handel's Messiah and Eastertide soloist Mrs Dahlgren Evening service presents Peace from Penitence Pardon and Peace by Maunder with soloists Mrs Breadner and Mr Caldwell.

A F Kirkland 77 of Ochre River died in Dauphin General Hospital on Saturday March 20 after a lingering illness. Born in Smith Falls Ontario he moved west at 17 and worked as a blacksmith in Gladstone Plumas and Ochre River. Survived by wife five sons Hubert Olin Frank Stuart and Robert. five daughters Mary Nora and two others. Funeral held March 23 at Ochre River United Church with Rev W Donagh. pallbearers listed.
Louis Flatfoot, convicted two weeks ago of rape, escaped custody while en route to the penitentiary aboard a train with Sheriff H. V. Smith. Re-captured by the RCMP near Meadow Portage after venturing toward Glenella, he arrived at Dauphin jail Monday and was re sentenced by Magistrate T. W. Neelands to one more year, in addition to the two years remaining on his prior sentence.
The Johnston rink from Dauphin won the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting trophy and the grand aggregate at the North of 54 bonspiel in Flin Flon last week. Members Johnny Johnston Vine Johnston Addie Stark and Bob Brown skipped the team. A second Dauphin rink skipped by Ernie Brown won the Transport trophy.
Austin Wells formerly studied at Dauphin Collegiate and earned Doctor of the University of Paris for research on the Bronte sisters Emily and Charlotte. His book is published by L Rodstein Librairie Paris. Wells, who arrived in Dauphin in 1929, also attended Wesley College and praised Professor Phelps in the preface. He spent years in Europe researching libraries in Paris Rome Madrid Brussels and the British Museum.
Mr. H. C. M. Jenkins district examiner Winnipeg lectured to about 800 people in Dauphin on postal operations. He spoke to 270 students at Dauphin Collegiate, 60 Rotary members, 425 public school children, and a Local Council of Women's gathering. He showed moving pictures and slides, stressed accurate addressing, and urged public help to cut errors and costs.
The town council agreed to ban parking on Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. along Main Street from 4th Ave North to 3rd Ave South Burrows Ave to Vermillion Ave NW and 38rd Ave NE from Main Street to the rear lane behind the Ramsay Wright building. The measure runs May 1 to October 31 and includes plans for free parking grounds at the old skating rink site and at First Street SW with lighting and watchmen. The Engineer will draft curb sidewalks with proper driveways for garages. Council also heard a relief recipients delegation objecting to voucher use at designated stores and will test the new method.
