Irishmen Celebrate St Patrick's Day in Dauphin

The Irish Society of Dauphin honored St Patrick with a town hall gathering Friday night. A banquet by WHA preceded music from the Dauphinesian orchestra and songs by Jack McMurray and others. Speeches toasted Ireland and Canada, praising heritage and shared duties, followed by a dance to close the evening.

Dauphin Courney Club Elects Officers At Annual Meeting

The Dauphin Courney Club held its annual meeting at the Elks Hall with about twenty members. New rules elected the president and vice president by shareholders and restricted director re‑elections. Six directors chosen. W. J. Harrington became president and F. N. Medirrr vice president. W. H. Arnett retired as secretary.

Power By-law Gets First Reading in Dauphin

The council discussed a by law to borrow 75 000 dollars for extending and upgrading the electric light and power plant. Debentures will bear 5 1 2 percent interest and be repaid over 25 years. The meeting also covered resignations at the power plant and a planned lecture on Palestine and Syria by H G Dawson at the Dauphin Theatre.

Millson to Preach at Saskatoon Services with Visitation Drive

Dr. W. E. Millson of Saskatoon Field Secretary of Evangelism and Social Service will preach at both services. Cyril Rice will sing at the evening service. Members of Session will conduct a week long Visitation Evangelism campaign.

A government engineer, A. Davis, measured Lake Dauphin levels and compared them with prior years as part of a Manitoba inquiry. He also surveys Lakes Manitoba, Windipi rsmeis and Willanpee noting increased depths and attributing high spring floods to land clearing and lumbering. a proposed spill path toward Lake Winnipegosis could control Dauphin’s level.

Manitoba Power Commission Eyes Northwestern Load Study

Col Bingham of the Manitoba Power Commission visited Grandview with Councillor Clark on Monday to collect information for estimating a potential power load between Grandview and other areas. A district survey aims to establish provincial hydro in Northwestern Manitoba with possible federal financing support for the Meadow Portage project.

Mona Craik Wins Oratory Contest in Dauphin

Mona Craik won the preliminary Oratorical Contest to select Dauphin’s representative for the IMetric Final. Edward Campbell Elva Milne and Lloyd Castle also spoke, with Mona Craik chosen to advance to the Constituency Final on Friday March 23.
