Winnipeg theatre opens amid murder trial at Dauphin court

The Dauphin court session opened with Chief Justice Mathers presiding after a Winnipeg arrival delay. The Grand Jury returned True Bills in the cases of King v. Rewniak for criminal libel and King v. Wilski for receiving stolen goods, with more cases expected from The Pas. Dauphin Poultry Association Holds Annual Meeting

The Dauphin Poultry Association met in Town Hall on Monday with strong breeder and supporter turnout. President A E Iredale led the session praising poultry industry growth and future wealth, while secretary treasurer Wm Murray presented a satisfactory year report showing assets near 7500. Election of officers followed with J B McIntyre as president and Wm Murray as secretary treasurer among a slate of directors and representatives to the Manitoba Poultry Association.

Dauphin Old Timers Clash In Friday Hockey Battle

In Portage la Prairie at Arena Rink on Monday March 19 Souris Midgets beat Dauphin Midgets 3 to 2 in a championship style contest. Souris led 3-0 after the first period as Pratt Frame and McLean struck early while Dauphin narrowed the gap with two goals in the final period. Roden and Mitchell starred for Souris as Heard and Henderson led Dauphin’s attack.

He will run a confectionery fruit and soft drinks business with an ice cream parlor linked to his grocery trade Access to the parlor will be from the grocery department and will convenience customers.

The Intermediate Baseball League holds a meeting in the town hall lobby on Tuesday March 27 in the afternoon election of officers for the 1923 season and related business. Fire Strikes Gilbert Plains Bakery Fire Contained

Residents formed rapid fire brigades after a blaze broke out in the bakery at the rear of Praser Bros Store in Gilbert Plains on March 19. Firefighters faced water supply difficulties but limited the fire to the single building, with some loss covered by insurance.

United Good Friday Service In Local Baptist Church

A joint service will be held on Good Friday at 11 am in the Baptist Church by Presbyterians Methodists Salvation Army and Baptists. Townspeople are invited. A 1920 War Memorial report suggested a park monument but progress stalled. Mayor to convene a public meeting March 29 at 8 pm in Town Hall to settle the memorial question.
