Fourth annual Good Roads meeting in Dauphin outlines road plans
The Northern Manitoba Good Roads association held its fourth annual meeting at the Hamilton hotel with about sixty guests from Grandview, Dauphin, Gilbert Plains, Ochre River and Ste. Rose. Reeve D J Hill of Ochre River chaired. officers for 1926 were elected, and discussions covered a completed trunk highway to Winnipeg, speed limits, and funding road drag work and gravelling on district routes.

Eastman Rink Wins Curling Bonspiel In Close Finish
The Curling Club held its season finale amid fears of ice melt. A. F P Eastman’s rink defeated Dr Harrington 9 to 8 in a tense final after Eastman drew to score the winning point. Provincial Council of Associated Boards Meets in Brandon
The first general meeting of Manitoba’s provisional council of the associated boards of trade was held in Brandon on March 13. W. Sanford Evans presided as president. discussion on the new constitution dominated the afternoon with each board to have one vote. A 25 cent per capita levy will fund the year, Winnipeg providing secretarial service at no cost.

Hold Up of CN Agent Leads to Arrest Near Laurier
C N R agent hold up near Makinak led to Friday arrest of resident Simon Letain by provincial police with help from H C Miles of the CN Investigation Dept. The incident at Makinak involved a man in large goggles threatening the station with a revolver and taking $44 before fleeing in the pre dawn hours. A charge will be laid against Letain.

Dauphin Back Boys Fall Short in Manitoba Final
In a two game weekend series at the Amphitheatre Winnipeg Souris clever play denied Dauphin Intermediate back boys their Manitoba Intermediate Championship bid. Souris won 5-2 overall with 3-2 and 2-0 scores, Dauphin scoring early in the first game but failing to beat Souris thereafter.

Irishmen Celebrate St Patrick's Day in Dauphin Banquet
The Dauphin Irish Society hosted about 160 attendees for a St Patrick's Day banquet featuring Irish songs and performances. Speakers included Rev. T A Watson and Dr J R Gunne who traced Ireland’s history and Gaels contributions while St. Patrick and the Ladies received toasts. The event concluded with singing, a Canada tribute, and a dance after a meal served by the Women's Hospital Aid.

Dauphin Country Club Elects Officers at Annual Meeting
At the Dauphin Country Club meeting in Elks Hall E N McGirr was elected president and Dr J R Gunne vice president. Dr Harrington chaired. The 1928 finances showed progress and the ladies raised funds for a new clubhouse. John Gardner, Dr Gunne, Wilf Robson and M Zworon were elected directors joining continuing directors including E N McGirr. Plans for greens elevation drainage and a professional engaged were announced with 1929 fees and course rules set.
