Five young men appeared before Magistrate Hawkins on a serious charge. Crown prosecutor Mr Rogers urged punishment but not jail to avoid creating future criminals. Sentences included suspended terms and hard labor with curfews and leave-town orders to curb future misdeeds.
Solomon's Tailor Shop introduces a new department offering ladies ready to wear suits and overcoats of high grade quality at moderate prices. First shipment of spring styles is on display now.
Albert Coppier appeared before Police Magistrate Mason at Maticak charged with illicit possession and was found guilty with a $200 fine and costs. Inland Revenue Officer Herrick and Constable Reekliff seized a device for illegal manufacture of a pirite from James Bignell at Mafe king, with penalties totaling $523.35. Fred Boyer of McCreary district was found guilty of killing a moose out of season and fined $25 with costs. Paul Boyer of McCreary fined $25 and costs for possessing moose meat. S. B. Peters of Duck River received a suspended sentence from Judge Bonnycastle for concealing a birth and false registration.
H. W. Wood, a leading wheat pool figure from Alberta, will address a Dauphin gathering in support of the wheat pool on Saturday, March 20. The event aims to rally farmers and promote pooled marketing strategies amidst market changes.
The spring assizes open next Tuesday before Judge Curran. Two cases remain from last assizes: King vs Leary Bowsman and King vs J G Warren Bowsman. Both allege conspiracy to defeat justice.

The Municipal Hall hosts a beekeeping course opening on Wednesday and running through Friday night. Instructor is Prof. T. L. Floyd. Twenty people have enrolled.
The court sentenced one defendant to a suspended year and a $300 fine with monthly payments of $39 while employed. Another individual received a warrant and a $10 costs assessment for the misdemeanor.
Miss Gertie Saunders visits her mother in Winnipegosis. Mrs K MacAulay and Mrs Wm Denby visit Dauphin. The Dauphin hockey team beat Winnipegosis 3 to 2. The tombola and dance for the Icelandic church attract a large crowd with all draws sold. Music by Grace Whale Sid King and Leo Magnusson. Rowland Morrison visits from Shoal Lake. Dr O McGuirk visits town. Wm Thomas replaces Mr Ketcheson at the creamery. St Patrick’s dance at Rex Hall praised as one of the best with lively music.
The S P Trail Ranger group held its regular meeting on March 2. A banquet preceded business and loyalty badge awards. Norman Amos, Jim Craig, Lloyd McDonald, and W Forsyth were named loyal after individual votes.

The 1924 Pay Derby carnival produced strong showings from local rinks. Chas. B. Steen's team of Wilson McPherson and Armstrong won the Premier Bracken trophy and took second in the Burns contest. Otto Heaslip's rink with Watson Johnson and Brown earned second in Premier Bracken, third in Drewry, and fourth in Burns.
Members of the B Y P U gathered at Mr and Mrs R Smiths home for an address on Saint Patrick detailing the life and work of Ireland’s patron saint. A social hour followed with Irish games and refreshments, ending with a vote of thanks to the hosts. A late show at Dauphin Theatre was announced for Saturday night.

The second session of the Tuxis Boys Mock Parliament will meet March 21 at 7 30 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church basement to read three bills and prorogate. Tuxis Squares plan a closing banquet after Easter and both Trail Rangers and Taxis Squares aim for the National Meet with May district events in Gilbert Plains. Local visits include H V Smith and others. theatre music by Novelty Four Orchestra at Dauphin Theatre Friday and Saturday. a Dauphin Gilbert Plains hockey win 5 4. and a St Patrick dinner by the Catholic Ladies Aid with profitable proceeds.
At the Literary Society meeting last Friday 1st vice president Jack Wilson presided. The programme included stump speeches grade ix debate grade ix and xii vocal solo Dimple Park. The resolution argued time and money spent traveling equals education value. The affirmative by Bernice Gorby and Ernest Solomon grade ix. negative by Agnes McDonald and Jim Malcolm grade xii. Grade xii won the debate series securing the shield for the year.
On March 13 at Tyndale's rink the Dauphin Juniors defeated Gilbert Plains Intermediates 9 to 2 in a fast game. Dauphin built a lead after Jim Ball's injury and benefited from Scrase's five goals and Leech Cameron Heard strong defending as Dauphin moved to 6 wins and 1 loss this season with 51 goals for and 26 against.
A school dance organized by the U.F.M. will be held Friday evening March 21. Admission is 25 cents for gentlemen, ladies may bring baskets for refreshments.
John Spillett holds an auction sale of his accredited Short horn herd on Tuesday April 1. Dan Hamilton serves as auctioneer.
The Dauphin old-timers held their annual gathering at the G W V A hall with a crowd, a dinner, speeches, songs, and a tribute to pioneers. President R J Malcolm led a reminiscence of early days, noting neighborly bonds and shared hardships, with remarks on absent members and a warm salute to Mrs. McArthur aged 99. The event closed with handshakes and hopes for next year.
At the Dauphin general hospital on March 10 a son was born to Mr and Mrs Alex Simpson. At Grandview on March 9 Andrew L Henry aged 70 years passed away.
