Elmwood wins two game series to claim Manitoba junior title

Elmwood defeated Dauphin 4 2 at the Olympic rink to seal the two game series and advance to a Western Canada series against the Regina Pats. Romeo Rivers and Gus Rivers sparked Elmwood with goals while Dauphin pressed late but fell short.

Hospital Board Sets Plans for New Building This Summer

At a special meeting the Hospi tal Board decided on the new hospital building to be erected this summer. Architects James Chisholm and Son of Winnipeg had their plans accepted. Specifications will be prepared soon and tenders called as early as possible.

Dauphin District Irish Society Postpones Banquet Start Time

The Dauphin District Irish Society announces the banquet and dance at Roseland Dance Gardens on March 17 will begin at 7.15 p.m. instead of 6.30 p.m. Irish airs will be performed during the banquet and dancing follows. Tickets should be obtained from Secretary W. Alexander by phone at 74.

Bracken Nomination Rumor Denied in Dauphin

The Dauphin UFM president Walter Wickes said no provincial UFM committee exists and no invitation was extended to Premier Bracken. Bracken Government Association secretary Bates denied any official invitation. Some Progressive party members suggested Bracken may have been privately approached.

Sifton man charged with arson in three barn fires

Hnat Juswak of Sifton faces magistrate proceedings on Tuesday for setting fire to three barns and a hay stack on March 2. Principal witnesses include Zurawinski Wasylewski Schahinger Kowalnicki Hryhorchuk Dow bush and Constable Grant. Arrest by Set Syron and Grant on March 7. adjourned to Monday 11 a.m. Also February police cases show 28 cases in Dauphin division with theft rape assaults and punchboard violations. March investigations cover arson and other offenses.

Dauphin Society to Present Medals April 1

The Dauphin Agricultural Society schedules an April 1 medal ceremony for winners of the March short course. J. G. Haney, Superintendent of Demonstration Farms for LH.C., will speak on Diversified Farming at the Town Hall after the medal presentations. Attendance urged for boys and girls who participated.

Grandview Oil Field Leases Sold to Hudson's Bay Marland Co

Part of the Grand View oil field covering 132 acres sold last week to Hudson's Bay Marland Co by Irro Gas and Oil Co for 132000 dollars at 100 dollars per acre. W T Ross reports a six-well program and new drilling equipment heading to Grand View with weather permitting operations.

Northern Manitoba Good Roads Association Banquet in Dauphin

The Northern Manitoba Good Roads Association holds its annual banquet and meeting on March 29 in Dauphin. Municipal council representatives from Ste. Rose Ochre River Dauphin Gilbert Plains and Gandview will attend. Prizes will be awarded to 1926 district dragging winners, with hopes for a highways department address on road maintenance and expanded prize contributions for 1927.

Accident at Main and 4th Avenue N Injures Mrs Iredale

Saturday evening an accident at the Main and 4th Avenue N intersection left Mrs A Iredale and her young daughter in danger as Swift Canadian coupe turned the corner. Mrs Iredale shielding her child was knocked down and run over by a wheel but the driver stopped immediately. Mrs Iredale received bruises and shock but is reportedly recovering well at home with Dr Rogers noting no serious injuries.

Annual Meeting of Dauphin Tennis Club

The Dauphin Tennis Club will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday evening March 22 at 8 oclock in the Rest Room. Officers for the coming year will be elected and two or three proposals for control of the courts will be considered. The club urges a large turnout of tennis enthusiasts to support development and the purchase of Tennis lots.

A large Liberal executive meeting in Dauphin Saturday discussed the political situation. Sitting member Mr. Esplen reported on the legislature, and the meeting unanimously decided to contest the Dauphin constituency in Liberal interests.

Rehearsals Begin for BPO Elks Musical Comedy in Dauphin

The BPO Elks annual musical comedy in Dauphin is under way with chorus vacancies filled and male parts strengthened by new singers. Beetham is pleased with progress as stage work starts and principals rehearse next week. E Phillips leaves for Winnipeg creating a lead vacancy, last year’s favorites expected to return, and scenery and costumes receive strong support amid plans to send the beauty chorus to Winnipeg for a beauty contest.
