John Thacker Makina k John nee Nora Both well announces the birth of a son named Randall. Mr and Mrs R Murray return home after a month visiting in Winnipeg. Wally Campbell recuperates in Ste Rose hospital after Friday scald injury. Donald Van Dusen of Brandon visits with his parents. A J Lacharite and Allan Cummings from Brandon were town visitors. Lawrence Paramore departs for Paulson to work as section man, Geo McCullam of Ochre River to replace him.
The Spruce Creek farm radio forum group gathered Monday March 3 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Beyko with lunch served after the meeting. A large crowd attended last Friday’s concert in the community hall and well wishes go to Miss Glenda Ewen, recently hospitalized.
Ethelbert residents visit relatives in Pine Rever and Winnipeg for conventions. The United church W A holds a meeting at Mrs K Tymchak's home. Walter Mandrick suffers multiple fractures from a tractor incident. A benefit bingo aids the Ethelbert Eagles hockey team, with a forthcoming hospital sale whist drive. Eagles beat Langruth 4-2 then 5-2 to reach provincial semi finals against Kenton. Births report a daughter to Medwich and a daughter to Kowalewich in Garland.
Mayflower district residents attend civil defence courses in Dauphin. Congratulations to Lewis Nichol’s rink for winning second prize in the Gilbert bonspiel main event. Several residents visited relatives in Gilbert Plains and Winnipeg last week.
Mr and Mrs J G Gniazdoski left Monday for Winnipeg as Mrs Gniazdoski recovers from an operation. Printer's error corrected from last week about thirty five couples at a party at Walter Strilchuk. Mrs F Vakula returns from Dauphin hospital after operation. Mrs M Kennedy and Mrs J Hupalo listed as hospital patients. N Ogruzio recovering after operation at St Boniface. Hugh Alguire home from Dauphin hospital with throat infection. Women's Institute met at Mrs Lozinski home with Mrs S Herman as hostess. Rev Fr J Kreciszewski underwent serious operation at St Boniface. wishes for speedy recovery. Mr and Mrs S Genik motor trip planned including Chicago and Pennsylvania/OH.
Little Allister and Malcolm Scott stay with Mr and Mrs Lloyd McKinnon as Mrs Scott accompanies her mother Mrs R J Wrenshall who lies ill in Ste Rose hospital. J Len Murray returns from Ninga after a month with his daughter Mrs E G Person and visits his mother in Souris. Miss Laura Preston returns to work in Ste Rose Rosal. Mild weather in recent days signals spring is near.
The Winnipeg carnival hosted by the Ladies' Auxiliary on March 7 drew a large crowd with afternoon races for children and evening skating acts led by Ruth McAulay. Anne Sass was crowned queen with princesses Alfred Jira and David Snyder, overseen by Acting Mayor T. Pawlicki.

Evening Guild meets Feb 27 with fourteen members and two visitors. St Patrick tea and parcel post sale planned for March 15. church paint fund discussed. Bridge club finale held with prizes to several members. multiple bridge events and hostesses noted.

Mrs A Rewniak and family returned from Winnipeg after a stay of a few days. Several relatives from Dauphin Ashville Winnipegosis Ward Manitoba visited local homes over the weekend. The list includes Mr and Mrs T Milcharuk, Dan Kostyshen, Mr and Mrs W Sawchuk, Borden Peniuk, Bill Chopee, Miss Eugenia S Basaraba, Miss Mary Furdick, Miss F M Hodgins and families visiting at various households.
Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Rutley on a recent marriage with the bride as Donna Dunfield. Visitors included Mr and Mrs S R Fulkerson and family with Mr and Mrs W H Davies and family. Local gatherings featured dinners and a district Ice Carnival with notable costumes. Kudos to Miss Clinton and helpers.
Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Otchenash on the birth of a son at Dauphin hospital. Alfred Lutz and wife traveled to Port Coquitlam S C. The February sewing group meeting at Mrs Brook's home drew strong attendance despite bad roads. The 4 H club dance at the school drew a good crowd under Mrs Wilfred Cardiff. Nellie Brook visited Mrs Steve Skoblak while Margery Tarrant visited Mr and Mrs Joe Stralak. Horned larks were seen in the district as spring hopes rise.
The annual Legion bonspiel on March 9 drew 16 rinks with Peter Lundy leading the winning rink and Art Jamieson’s foursome taking second. Seven rinks came from Winnipegosis, plus two from Dauphin and one from Sifton district. Fork River hosted three rinks in Winnipegosis competition. Local social notes mention visits, gatherings, and condolences for the Budzey family on the loss of a two and a half month old daughter.
