Six well known young men of the town were convicted before Judge R Hawkins on Tuesday the sixth inst with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. They came up for sentence on Saturday.
A winter Farmers ball drew about four hundred attendees, with many guests watching rather than dancing. D. Kells led floor movements, ladies supplied plentiful foods, and the McMurray orchestra provided music with frequent encores.
A Wheat Pool meeting in the G W V A drew a small attendance due to poor advertising. Mr John Seale chaired with speakers Wallace Gourlay and A E Parker of Winnipeg. They discussed pool operation and feasibility noting Alberta success with 40 percent sign up. Gourlay blamed the Grain Exchange for price suppression through market manipulation. E S Kliske returned Saturday from a Swan River trip.
The LG Vee Chapter will hold its monthly meeting on Friday March 24 at 2 30 p m in the Community Hall Ramsay Wright building.
A collection of local notices including thanks for sympathy and assistance after a bereavement, thanks from United Farmers of Manitoba district board for a ball’s success, reward notices, a meeting date for the association, heir information requests in Ontario, and various sales and listings for goods and real estate in Dauphin and surrounding areas.
Henry Marion, 22, appeared before Police Magistrate Eheaume at Ste. Rose du Lac last week charged with carnally knowing two girls aged between 14 and 16. Marion was committed for trial.
A 14 member labor delegation urged eight hour days for Dauphin Electric Light Plant workers while the council weighed budget limits. Councillors defended finances, noting revenue cuts and prior commitments as the Electric Light Committee recommended no change.
Thomas Whitmore died at his Gartmore home on the 6th aged 70 after emigrating from England in 1879 with brothers William and Henry. A Dauphin settler, he helped found Gartmore land along the Vermillion river, served as county court clerk, and was active in the Agricultural Society. Survived by widow and four children Burton George Gladys Edith, funeral from home to Riverside cemetery with Rev. A. E. Cousins officiating. Pallbearers listed.
The notice lists gifts from Mrs. W. Turner and Mrs. Rowat of pig's heads, Mrs. Montgomery bread, Mrs. O Grady rice, Palace Bakery buns and cake, Mrs. John Gardner clothing, Miss Jennie Strang clothing and milk. Directors thank volunteers for collecting efforts and report many subscriptions outstanding but hopeful of reaching the $1000 goal.

The Women’s Hospital Aid Society will hold its annual drive on Monday March 17 to raise money for linens furnishings and general supplies. A generous response to this appeal is earnestly requested.
The Dauphin Poultry Association announces its annual meeting for Saturday 22 1924 at 2 30 p m in the Town Hall. All interested in poultry are invited to attend. Signed by President B McIntyre and Secretary William Murray.
Dauphin Agricultural Society will host two day farm meetings in the Town Hall on March 18 and 19. Speakers from the Agricultural College include Prof. J. M. Grown and Prof. J. H. Ellis. Topics cover Live Stock on the Farm Milk Production Por age Crops and Ensilage and Silos. Attendees urged to attend in large numbers.
A J Boughen sent three Percheron horses to Brandon Winter Fair and earned one first and two third prizes. The three year old stallion Unique Star won first in his class and placed third in Grand Championship contention.
A Wednesday 1.55 a.m. blaze at Mike Slyzak’s 10th Ave S.W. store breached the roof before firefighters halted it. Loss is estimated at 400 dollars for the building with stock largely destroyed. Cause under investigation.
The St James Presbyterian Mission Band invites the public to a silver tea and sale of home cooking and candy in the church basement this Saturday March 15 from 3 30 to 6 o clock. Come and encourage the little workers.

The Last Post fund will bury any returned man without money or friends. the Ladies Aid Presbyterian church hosts a silver tea at Park's Tea Rooms March 19 and 20 with millinery opening days.
