Retirements Mark CNR Employee Lewis Maddox in Dauphin
Lewis Maddox of the Canadian National Railway retired Tuesday March 3 from his Dauphin office position after a career starting in 1920. He began as a junior clerk in Winnipeg and came to Dauphin in 1952 as chief clerk later becoming office assistant in the area manager's office. Mr. and Mrs. Maddox plan to live in St Vital. he received an engraved watch and flowers.

Ice Revue Shines At Dauphin Figure Skating Club
The 1964 Ice Revue presented by the Dauphin Figure Skating Club under Darlene Turk featured two parts Toy Shop and Calendar Revue. Dictionary Stand Donated To Dauphin Public Library
The Dauphin Public Library receives a reading height dictionary stand donated by Mr and Mrs Sam Solomon. The stand features a sloped surface and two shelves in gleaming natural wood with a plaque to honor the donors. Solomon helped shape the town's library and its leadership under librarian Mrs K Everall. A Winnipeg art gallery exhibit is planned, followed by Easter flower displays by the Dauphin Horticultural Society led by Mrs B C Goodhand. A Henderson teacher brought grade seven students to learn library use and reference skills. Education Week saw Smith Jackson pupils and a radio program aiding slow readers. February attendance included 33 senior non resident and 29 junior readers, totaling 62.

Bill Cumberland Receives Queen Scout Badge
Sixteen year old Bill Cumberland earned the Queen Scout badge at the First Dauphin Scouts banquet in the Baptist church on February 24. He began as a tenderfoot in 1960 and advanced through second and first class in 1961 and 1962, accumulating seven proficiency badges while serving as troop leader since January.
