Edmonton Doctor Dr Allyn to Speak at Baptist Church

Dr Jessie Allyn from Edmonton, a renowned medical missionary in India, will address the Baptist church on Monday night. She runs a large hospital near Pithaparim and is often called to Madras for consultations. Her talk promises insight into Indian conditions and public attendance is invited.

Reverend Philip Duncan Called to First Presbyterian Prince Rupert

Despatch from Prince Rupert reports that Rev Philip Duncan has been called to the First Presbyterian Church there. The move surprises Mr Duncan who says he cannot understand the report as he previously told the congregation he could not consider a call under the circumstances.

WV H A Meeting Reports Funds For Hospital Needs

At a recent WV H A session, receipts from the drive totaled 628 dollars. The group said funds replenish hospital linens and crockery, with any additional money going to the building fund. They urged larger attendance and noted that every contributor of one dollar or more becomes a member.

Good Roads Meet Set for Tuesday Across Northern District

The Northern Manitoba Good Roads association will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday March 16 at 7 20 p m in the town hall. Delegates from Grandview Gilbert Plains Dauphin Ochre River and Ste Rose will discuss extending the group and organizing a dragging competition to improve roads across the district from Ste Rose to Grandview. All interested residents are urged to attend.

Carnival Rink Event Showcases Costumes and Races

A Tuesday evening carnival at the rink drew a good crowd and featured costumes and racing events. Prizes went to B Hawkins for girls under 16 in 5 laps, Jim Craig for boys under 16, and a 15 and under relay won by Bonner Whaley, Jim Craig, Jos Grant, and Bud Carman. Costume prizes honored Margaret Heard, Allan Lafontaine, F E Machan, and Alma Machan.

Joint councils reach initial stage in cemetery agreement

A Dauphin town council session reviews a Riverside Cemetery joint maintenance plan with the rural municipality. A caretaker will be hired with 50 percent town, 25 percent rural, and 25 percent burial revenue funding. The agreement also contemplates joint board control and future mortuary facilities.

Liberal Association Meeting Dauphin convenes March 18 1926

The Liberal Association of Dauphin will meet in Clarke Block to elect delegates to the Provincial Liberal Conference. The conference will be held at the Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg on March 25 1928. F F Simpson is president and H E Bewell secretary.

Land Settlement Committee Formed In Dauphin

The Rotary Club of Dauphin approved forming a nine member Land Settlement Committee to advise on local immigration and assist settlers. The panel will expand to cover all municipal areas and work with the Rest Room committee. Also reported is the death of George Broadfoot at Middlechurch age about 77. He lived in Dauphin and had served as post office caretaker. He is survived by relatives in Vancouver, Dauphin, Windsor, Chatsworth, and Winnipeg. Burial was at Middlechurch.
