Town Sells Arena By Tender For New In Town

The town council at a special meeting voted to advertise the present Dauphin skating arena for sale by tender with or without the site to raise funds for a new arena. The engineer was told to gather material costs for a rink on the D.M.L.C. site if the current rink is sold. Tenders are sought in multiple local papers with a sale not guaranteed to any bidder and aims to gauge potential funds.

Firemen Save Grain Elevator in Lake of the Woods mill

Dauphin's volunteer fire brigade acted at noon Monday to contain a fire started in the Lake of the Woods Milling office on First Avenue S.W. The blaze was limited to the office causing about 300 in damage. Firemen extinguished the flames quickly and prevented spread to the main elevator. The alarm sounded at 11:50 am with the cause believed to be an overheated heater in the office. Flames crept up a wall but were stopped before further damage. Fire was fully under control by early afternoon.
