John Conner Receives Department Appointment

John H. Conner is named assistant livestock commissioner with the livestock department effective March 1. He resigns to begin duties in Winnipeg after ten years as agricultural representative in Dauphin. He served two years overseas with the RCAF starting September 1941 and was mentioned in dispatches. Mrs Conner and their three sons will move to Winnipeg.

Wounded son of Mr and Mrs A D Smith in action

Lieut Col Hershell Smith M C son of Mr and Mrs A D Smith has been wounded in action with a severe traumatic amputation of the right foot. He is 25 and has served overseas nearly four years, having enlisted at the outbreak of war. He was previously wounded last September.

Sidney G Denham a former staff member is named principal of the Dauphin collegiate succeeding A E Reid whose resignation takes effect in June Trustees accepted Denhams application at Fridays meeting Denham currently leads Russell public school and its collegiate department He previously served as Russell collegiate assistant principal 1934 to 1937. W J Henderson Dies After Lengthy Illness

William J Henderson dies at 72 after a lengthy illness at his home on Saturday March 3. He served as Dauphin school inspector since 1942 and prior was 27 years principal of the local public schools. Survived by wife Eva Macdonald two sons and two daughters and a granddaughter. Funeral at United church Friday 2 30 p m with Riverside Cemetery burial. Bullmore's Funeral home in charge.

Sgt Gordon McCaw Wounded in Action in Holland

Sgt Gordon Albert McCaw 22 of Dauphin was reported seriously wounded in action in Holland. He enlisted in April 1939 and went overseas that December, took part in the Dieppe raid. Two brothers also serve with the Canadian army, Daniel in Italy and Lloyd at Saskatoon.
