Alexander J. McPherson died after a long illness on March 5 in Dauphin aged 74. Born in Nova Scotia January 1849, he lived in Parkhill and Birtle before moving west. A blacksmith, hotel operator, road foreman, hardware store owner and fish inspector, he was a Liberal and served as mayor briefly. Survived by four daughters and three sons, funeral at the Presbyterian church with Vermilion Lodge A F and A M participation.

J A Jupe of Margo Sask and Thieson of Shevlin on the C N R bridge and building staff were severely hurt when a timber fell on the second. Jupe suffers fracture of shoulder and pelvis while Thieson has fractured ribs. Mrs Pocklington admitted. Hoy slightly better. Johnston improving. Parker much improved.

Early railway pioneer Rod J Mackenzie dies in California
Rod J. Mackenzie died in California on the first instant. He helped his father and D D Mann in early railway construction and made Dauphin his headquarters. His remains will be interred at his old home in Kirkfield Ontario.

Four Month Sentence Given in Valley River Assault Trial
Mike Szewczyk was sentenced to four months in Dauphin for assaulting Zacharka of Valley River. Judge Sonny Castle warned that communal vigilante justice would be punished and stressed the danger of weapon violence. The youth of the defendant was noted as a factor in avoiding a longer term.
