Manitoba Constable Joins World Fair Duty in Brussels

Constable Henry Eckert of the Dauphin sub detachment is named to an eight man RCMP unit bound for the Brussels World’s Fair from April 17 to October 19. He leaves Dauphin soon, sailing from Halifax in late March. Eckert, the only Manitoba member, speaks English German and Dutch, and since 1951 has served in Calgary and British Columbia. He married Geraldine Lee of Minnedosa last summer, a nurse at Dauphin General Hospital.

William McGowan named Manitoba Telephones District Plant Superintendent for the Dauphin area. He previously served as supervision officer foreman in Brandon and was vice chief at the Dauphin exchange from 1953 to 1955. A Winnipeg native, his career spans shop and installation departments, with wartime service as a captain in the Fort Garry Horse. He also commands the 70th Field Battery in Dauphin.

He joined the RCN as a midshipman in 1953, served aboard HMCS Quebec and HMCS Micmac, trained in the United States, earned his wings, joined Magnificent, then to HMCS Labrador as a helicopter pilot during 1957 northern operations.

Little Theatre to Present All My Sons on Mackenzie Stage

The Dauphin Little Theatre will present Arthur Miller's All My Sons directed by Lou Kliman at 8 p.m. Friday in Mackenzie Auditorium. Jack Little stars with Estele Kliman and Olivier Malpin in a three act drama about two families after World War I.
