Town Tax Rate Holds Steady at 46 Mills for 1942

In a rapid session the town set the 1942 by laws and kept the total levy at 40 mills, the same as 1941, despite rate detail changes. The 1941 levy was $102,471.31 and 1942 is $98,189.46, with $6,000 spent on water meters. water frontage relief worth $4,932.75 applies. City officials noted metering aims to curb unmetered consumption while daylight saving reduced daily power output by about 900 KWH. A small joint town rural committee was proposed to seek a mutually acceptable arrangement.

Variety Keynote Of Ice Carnival In Dauphin Mar 7

Dauphin Commercial Travellers announce a two show ice carnival this Saturday at the local arena starting 2 30 pm and 9 pm. Winnipeg Speed and Figure Skating Club artists will perform with 40 members featuring solos ten steps waltzes and ballets. Open races allow local competitors with no entry fee and reserved seats are limited for the evening performance.

Police Court Fines Carry Short Jail Terms and Fees

Other gifts include Russian supplies from the Methven brothers and Mekon Red Cross and a Grade 6 Mackenzie school donation plus residents of Kippan's Mill totaling 45.

In Dauphin and district the Victory Loan drive surpassed its $135,000 local quota reaching $179,550 with the Town of Dauphin contributing a $25,000 bond from its new reserve fund. Manitoba and Canada also topped goals driving Canada toward a $906,000,000 objective as 788,727 subscribers total.
