Women Favor Referendum on Liquor Act in 1927

At the Local Council of Women monthly meeting a substantial majority backed a referendum to repeal the Government Liquor Control Act in the province, to be held in the summer of 1927. Rev Fred Middleton argued moderation failed to curb liquor, urging stronger enforcement and education.

Sudden Death of Mrs Mary R Whyte

An apoplectic stroke caused the death of Mrs. Mary Robertson Whyte as she entered the home on Suh Avenue N E. She was born in Scotland in 1864 and came to Canada about twenty years ago. Survived by daughters Mrs. Eddy and Mrs. Evans and sons Jack George and Joseph Interment in Riverside Cemetery Friday at 2 30 p m at St Paul s Anglican Church.
