MTS plans a $16 000 project in Ste. Rose area adding over 2 miles of aerial wire and cable on a joint use basis with Manitoba Hydro. Construction will place facilities in deck lanes where feasible and is slated for completion early this summer.
A mild spell on February 26 lifted temperatures to 38 degrees, melting snow and easing cold. The week spanned a 75 degree temperature range, ending with a snowstorm that dropped 2.6 inches, followed by 2 inches on the 24th. February totals include 6.3 inches of snow water equivalent and 140.1 hours of sunshine. mean temp was -1.6 with highs of 38 and lows of -37, setting two record lows for February 22 and 23.

Local improvement levies reach a new record of 97,829.53 for paving sewers curbs sidewalks and lane paving. Penalties apply monthly from April 6, May 4 and June 2 totaling six percent.

The Dauphin Agricultural Society announces the 15th annual Northern Manitoba Seed Grain and Bacon Carcass show to be held at the DMCC on Thursday April 22 alongside the Easter Week Agricultural and Homemaking Short Course. Don Dunfield chairs. Peter Kiez directs the show with Dauphin Society leaders, seed growers, and elevator company reps. Over $600 in cash prizes plus ten two day Winnipeg tour awards at July 12 13. Entries include Pedigreed Growers Commercial and 4-H seed groups for wheat oats barley flax forage crops and special crops. Hog carcass entries include one barrow per producer from Dauphin Ethelbert and Ste. Rose areas.
