At Dauphin on February 1 a daughter born to Mr and Mrs John Moncrieff named Pearl Lorraine. At Dauphin General Hospital on February 28 a daughter born to Mr and Mrs William Stedding of Kelwood Manitoba.

Philip Stark Elected Senior Stick of United Colleges

Philip J. Stark won the Senior Stick post in the United Colleges student election held February 25 for 1932 33. The article notes his extensive activity in debating soccer and dramatics, his roles at Wesley College and Vox, and predicts a successful year under his leadership with Jean Fraser elected Lady Stick. Stark is a Dauphin Collegiate Institute graduate, son of Mr and Mrs Adam Stark.

Russell Dagg Laid to Rest in Vancouver Funeral for 31 year old miner

Russell Dagg of 4528 West Fifteenth Street Vancouver aged 31 was accidentally killed by a rock fall at Britannia Beach copper mine. The funeral was held at Mount Pleasant Chapel with Rev. A F Baker officiating and burial in Mountain View Cemetery. He formerly resided at Neepawa and Dauphin Manitoba and Lacombe Alberta and came to Vancouver in 1925. Survived by wife four brothers and two sisters and stepmother.

Brown and Scrase win Dauphin Curling Club bonspiel

The Dauphin Curling Club open finals concluded on Monday with Robt. Brown’s rink defeating A. Polion 10 to 4 in the Burrows Memorial trophy. In the Citizens' Trophy final H. W. Serase beat Bob Brown 11 to 9 to claim the title, with Bert Scrase as skip.

Mink Creek men convicted of assault at Boreton Bazaar

Wasy and Steve Michalyk of Mink Creek were convicted of assault occasioning bodily harm after trial before Judge A L Bonnycastle. The event occurred at a Boreton School bazaar on November 14. The plaintiff was 56 year old Harry Bihan. Crown prosecutor C. B. A. Rogers, K C, with Alex Katz assisted. defence counsel A T Warnock.

A note from February 29, 1932, from W. E. Robson, mayor of Dauphin Manitoba, states a decision to proceed with Massey River dam construction to raise Lake Dauphin water level and defer bridge location choice for a later decision.

Dauphin Agricultural Society Opens 8th Winter Fair

The 8th annual winter fair in Dauphin opened Tuesday morning under D. D. Mc Donald and John Connor with 83 students enrolled in short courses and stock judging. Activities included poultry judging demonstrations, a ladies class, and lectures by Joe Racine and John Connor. The program runs through Friday with a banquet, presentations, and dance.

Normal notes and plans for post Easter events

The Normal concert is postponed until after Easter. Colonel Gillespie will test physical training next Saturday, an endurance test. Nurse Skinner lectures on public health and first aid for two weeks. On Friday the 11th the class travels to rural districts to teach. Curling activities dampened by mild weather. a Ladies bonspiel rink is entered with L Watson skip, Connie Blair, Margaret Dickerson, Florence Campbell. they lost two games but aim to perform well.

Promising array of talent at collegiate concert

The Dauphin Collegiate Institute Literary Society presented a two night concert with music dance and drama by younger students. Highlights included the collegiate orchestra with The Jolly Bandits and The War March of the Priests, plus scenes from The Hand of Siva and The Wonder Hat. Encore performances featured dance and piano solos, and Miss Robson led as principal pianist.

Brandon Dauphin Bus Service Re established

Congratulations go to F Geiler for opening the Dauphin to Brandon highway using a locally built snowplow attachment behind a freighter push vehicle. The plow designed by Archie Hoy clears loose snow at 11 mph, enabling the Northern Manitoba Bus Company to offer continuous service and boost local business with private passengers and freighter traffic already using the route.
