February Weather Brief Reports Mixed Snow Rain

The past week brought mostly pleasant February weather with precipitation on all but one day. Only about 0.45 inch of moisture fell, and a snowy Saturday caused traffic to grind to a halt in Dauphin, making it seem a tough place to live.

Collision injures two men on Main Street South

At 12 15 am on February 23 a two vehicle collision occurred at Main Street South and Eleventh Avenue. Charles Fisher of rural Dauphin and Foyle Chartrand of Pine River were involved. Fisher's car sustained $2000 damage and he is at Dauphin General Hospital with undetermined injuries. Chartrand drove a 1957 truck and given no statement yet.

Figures released by CF Bull of the national employment service show that at close of business Feb 24 there were 2 240 male and 257 female applicants registered for employment. Continued on page 2 col 6.

Prowler Warning Issued In Town

RCMP issued a warning after three incidents reported by local women. On Feb 13 a man accosted a resident returning home at 9 30 pm in the north end. Two Feb 22 incidents followed one near Whitmore school at dawn and another along Main Street at 11 30 pm. Police urge witnesses to contact RCMP with any suspicious activity.

Hit and Run Victim Left Unconscious In Ditch Three Youths Face Charges

A hit and run on No 20 highway east of Dauphin at 8 30 pm Saturday left Mrs Maryayes Morriseau unconscious in a ditch with a broken left arm. Three youths were charged with auto theft and remanded without plea until March 6. Additional charges are expected as police investigate.

Spring Program Schedule Planned By Dauphin Agricultural Society

The Dauphin Agricultural Society outlines spring and summer plans led by Dave Hell. 1961 tax levies issued by the Dauphin town office include business and local improvement levies with staged penalties starting April 1. The business levy targets 237 places raising 636,294. local improvements total 53,133. About 62,000 in arrears remain from prior years, about 15 percent of total municipal and school levies.
