Kemp Mobberley was bought by Auto Electric Service, a Toronto headquartered firm, and will operate as Auto Electric Service Western Ltd. Dauphin Motors Gets New Owner

William G. Hanbury took over the Dauphin Motors General Motors franchise on May 4 from George Bates. The Dauphin Motors Limited operation includes a showroom service shop and gas station on Main Street. Hanbury, a Winnipeg native, previously served five years as general manager at Consolidated Motors and is married to Janice Robertson with two children Sheila and 10.

Blood Donor Clinic Sees 337 Participants in Dauphin

Afternoon turnout reached 137 donors with 200 in the evening at the town hall totaling 337. 320 pints were accepted. Last year 294 pints were donated and the December Dauphin clinic saw 352 pints. The November 1960 clinic held the donor record at 411 pints. Staff of 13 from Winnipeg assisted 12 donor beds and 12 rest beds, with Dauphin nurses and Royal Canadian Legion auxiliary aiding donors and serving refreshments after the rest period.

Polls Open 8 A M To 7 P M On Election Day

June 18 marks the federal election with polls open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. For first time the closing is one hour later than in 1958. Voters must mark an X in the box beside the candidate’s name. Advance polls increased to five locations including Roblin Grandview Dauphin Ethelbert and Ste. Rose du Lac with voting allowed for absence on election day. Advance poll votes will be tallied Monday June 18 at 9 p.m. as announced by returning officer Vernon H. Rampton.

Official Ceremony Marks Opening of Regional Library

An open air ceremony on June 3 marked the opening of Ste. Rose du Lac Regional Library. Robert Kremchuk, board president, thanked the provincial government for funding and noted it as Manitoba’s first bilingual library. The library houses about 2,600 volumes split across English, French, and German, with no charge for residents and small fees for nonresidents. branches are run at Laurier and Ste. Amelie.
