Employment Picture Is Much Brighter
There has been a great improvement in local employment during the past week and it is expected this trend will continue. Figures from the Dauphin Office of the National Employment Service show on June 2 there were 72 percent male and 28 percent female applicants registered for employment. Vacancies exist for auto mechanics, general farm hands, a dietitian, short order cook, waitresses, and general maids.

Civic Service Board Rules Paziuk Dismissal in Ethelbert Case
A May 26 Civic Service board report finds William Paziuk improperly dismissed as secretary treasurer of the rural municipality of Ethelbert. The board notes postholding since November 1950 and that dismissal followed a Jan. 5 council action made effective April 6 without stated cause. It orders Paziuk reinstated, citing Municipal Act protections. The board members include FP Tallin, Oswald McKay, and P F C Byars.

Electors to vote on two new schools by-law
Duck Mountain Division electors will vote Saturday on a by-law to authorize debentures for the construction of two 12 room secondary schools at Erhelbert and Winnimers. The plan, estimated at 3666 465, covers 20 year debentures with 67 percent provincial support. If approved, annual debenture payments and related taxes will be outlined by the division board.

Excellent TB skin testing response in Dauphin town
Dauphin residents show strong participation in a TB skin test survey with about 77 percent of the town population tested during May 11 to June 4. A total of 5 720 people were tested over six days and 1 188 X ray plates were taken. The traveling unit moved between DMCC arena and Sifton and Valley River sites to complete testing and readings this week.
