Rural Field Day Draws Thirteen Area Schools
Thirteen Dauphin District rural schools participated in a Friday field day held at Smith-Jackson School. Parade judged for banner and costume. Dauphin Plains won top honors, with Banks and Halley following. Afternoon events included physical drill, track races, and a softball tournament with numerous winners across boys and girls divisions.

Bridge on No 5 Highway Rebuilt by Town Council

Verdict rules accidental death in Bakouski case
A jury in Dauphin returned a death by accident verdict in the inquest into five year old Oscar Bakouski's death. He was struck by John Winters' gravel truck on Highway No. 5 as he ran from behind a towed government maintainer. The coroner and doctor confirmed fatal skull fracture and brain hemorrhage.

The Dauphin General Hospital in Dauphin Manitoba held its annual meeting at Town Hall on Monday June 5 with H N Macneill chairing. Officers and committees were elected for the coming year and the secretary treasurer reported total expenditures of 30594.69 and income of 31562.32 for the year ending April 30 1933.

Inquest verdict finds death due to euremic poisoning
An inquest at Pine River returned a verdict of death from euremic poisoning in eight year old William Matwee. The boy collapsed after school on Wednesday 24 following three straps by a teacher the day prior. The teacher was exonerated though the verdict noted poor judgment given the child’s mental and physical condition. Dr. G W Rogers presided as coroner.
