Capt J W Egerton oversaw the annual inspection of No 1597 C Squadron Fort Garry Horse Army Cadets with 130+ cadets present. The event at Mackenzie school grounds featured a march past, first aid and drill demonstrations, and a 16 piece bugle band under Cadet Capt Clifford McIntosh.

The executive includes Helen Marsh, Mrs. P. H. Dilts and Mrs. R. E. Dicks. social committee members are Mrs. A. Buckwold and Mrs. C. S. Robertson.
Dr H E Bewell longtime Dauphin resident dies suddenly on May 30 at age 67. Born Scarborough Ontario he moved west settling in Rosser and later Dauphin where he established a dental practice in 1904. Survived by wife Pearl Florine Lush daughter Mrs G B Wheeler and two grandchildren. He served 24 years on the school board chaired it for a decade supported the library and the Little Theatre group and held past presidency of the Dauphin Liberal association. Funeral services were held at his residence with Rev L A Mattit officiating. Burial followed at Riverside cemetery.
The death of George Allard 10 son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Allard occurred May 31. A prayer service was held at Bullmore's Funeral Home and funeral services were conducted at St. Viator's Church by Father H. W. McIntyre on Saturday at 10 a.m. Pallbearers were altar boys J. Harrigan G. Balcaen L. Chartier J. Nowosad B. Harpham and R. Forrest. Surviving are four brothers and three sisters: Raymond Lawrence Paul Allan Blanche Rene all at home and Lucille of Ottawa.
Three more blood clinics will be held in Dauphin before summer closure. A 50 donation weekly quota requires 150 volunteers for the period, but only 37 donors attended this Tuesday including 29 from Dauphin, 5 from No. 7 B and G S, and 3 from Magnet, with 15 notified absent.
Dr. Johann Marino Sigvaidason 42 died at Winnipeg General Hospital after one day of illness. He served at Ninette Sanitorium since 1941 and recently aided tuberculosis survey work in Dauphin. Funeral from United Church Shoal Lake. burial in family plot. Survived by wife, mother Mrs. T. Sigvaidason Winnipeg, and brothers Eric Saskatoon and Ellsworth Winnipeg.
Dr. R. D. Bird, Dominion entomologist, reports a brighter outlook for canker worms in Dauphin. A town survey found few worm eggs, some hatched last spring, and leaves with holes will be sprayed as soon as they unfold to prevent damage. Tent caterpillars have moved east toward Dauphin Lake and are not expected to trouble this season.
Voters in Dauphin are advised to know their polling division before polling day. Polling stations Nos. 60 to 65 are in the Town Hall auditorium while Nos. 66 and 67 use the Town Hall council chamber.
The May report from the rural health unit lists mumps among the communicable diseases. In Dauphin town the tally shows mumps at 14, plus chickenpox 3, septic sore throat 1, influenza 4, while the rural area records influenza 1 and mumps 1, and unorganized territory lists lobar pneumonia 1.
At a Dauphin garage proprietors meeting the hours for public service were kept unchanged, aligning with broader policy after gasoline and oil sale restrictions were lifted June 1 in Manitoba and neighboring provinces.
Executive members of the Dauphin Agricultural Society map a July 9 to 11 fair with Youth Day rally and judging, parades, and a two day race meet culminating in a July 10 evening horse show. Advanced ticket sales and ongoing grandstand, track, and building renovations are noted.
The Dauphin Lions club reported a $420 gain from the Sulphur and Molasses show held last month. A May 30 luncheon noted the public’s strong support and announced donations of $100 to the Boys' Band committee and $25 to the Rehabilitation committee. Rotarians invited Lions to a joint luncheon on June 14. Enthusiasm grows for an inter-club golf tournament.
