Cpl Sidney B. H. Littlewood of Winnipegosis is named to command Dauphin R C M P town station replacing recently retired Sgt Max Scheer. Born in Newburg Ontario, he joined the force in 1932 and served Saskatchewan Ontario western Arctic and Manitoba. He was at Gimli 1942 48 and has five years in Winnipegosis and strong youth activity involvement. Cst J La pointe of Ethelbert to move to Winnipegosis after a Vancouver course.

Dean Durston 18 of Mount View Swine Club and Dauphin district represented his area as runner-up in the provincial 4-H club speaking contest finals held Tuesday noon at the Royal Alexandra hotel in Winnipeg. Only one point separated him from winner Jack Wilkie of Layne Calf Club Carman. The finalists spoke before Kiwanis sponsors at a dinner. Durston’s speech topic was The Course. Semifinals were held Monday at the University of Manitoba Fort Garry.

4 H Club Parade Winners At Dauphin Summer Fair
The Dauphin summer fair opener July 21 featured 4 H club rally winners. Winnipegosis clothing club won the Robert Hawkins trophy for parade marching by 26 girls in green and white. They also topped the club concert and took three other placings. Ashville Sev n Save club earned first prize for best float with eight girls in gingham black and white outfits and a gingham bordered banner. Fork River clothing and garden clubs won the banner title with a green and yellow banner design.

Early Harvesting Seen In Dauphin District Crops

The town council approved buying 315 Dual GS-2 parking meters at 98 dollars each with installation. Engineer Ed Lundman had been authorized to purchase. A 12 month trial period is set and revenue will be split 50 50 during payment.
