Board of Trade Plans to Entertain Churchill Excursion Visitors
The board of trade outlined plans to host about 200 Churchill excursionists during a 3 hour visit in Dauphin. A special train with over 20 sightseers arrives August 13 at 23 pm. Americans largely makeup the group. Guests will get a souvenir, and Dauphin boys band will perform at a station grounds reception before a town tour in cars provided by board members. Copies of Herald and jubilee booklets will be distributed on the train.

Water supply fluctuations test council records
Water supply quality swung from good to bad and back as tests by the local health unit show June results negative for bacteria with plate counts from 25 to 1920. July 8 tests were positive with counts over 10000, and by July 15 counts remained high though bacteria test was negative.

Vermillion town council approves on consent the provincial government purchase of 20 lots in block two north of the courthouse with two conditions. Two Local Residents Killed In Week-end Thunderstorms
Lightning struck during weekend storms killing Allan Lee 50 of Ochre River on a hay rack near the village and later Eugene Neiman 25 of Ste Amelie while riding home from his father’s farm. Donald Lee survived after being struck and helped his brother. Neiman’s horse died, and both families mourn deaths amid scattered property reports. Surviving relatives listed include Mary Hazel Doreen, multiple siblings, and in laws from Ochre River and Shoal Lake.

Gladiolus Contest Begins Saturday
The gladiolus contest of the horticultural society starts Saturday July 31 with entries shown in a Peoples store window on Main street.
