Highway Crash Injures Nine in Dauphin Area

Virginia M Green driver of the car was detained after a high speed crash on No 10 highway. Two truck passengers Wallace Fleury and Joseph Ranville suffered facial and head cuts. Gordon Harlaw drove an Austin that went off a hill injuring Cecil and Clifford Small. All victims treated at Dauphin General Hospital as investigators probe the crash cause.

Dauphin Fair Draws Big Crowds Over Three Days

Fairgoers estimated at 28 000 attended the Dauphin Agricultural Society exhibition held July 11 12 and 13. The event featured KDB Enterprises Calgary acts with a Travellers Parade drawing near 12 000 on Friday and top prizes in regional livestock shows including Glen Powell Grandview dominating Shorthorn entries and multiple champions across Aberdeen Angus Hereford Guernsey Jersey and other divisions.

Four-H Rally Sets Record with Forty Five Clubs Represented

The Dauphin Agricultural Society three day fair opened with a record 45 4-H clubs and 725 members and leaders attending. A half hour late start delayed the evening concert but the rally showcased 28 clubs and nine parade floats. Town Accepts Fargo Disaster Donations From Residents

The town council announced that Dauphin residents may donate to Winnipeg administered Fargo Disaster Fund at the town office. The fund runs until July 31 and aims for $100,000 under chair Mark Darizker. The appeal follows Winnipeg mayor Stephen Juba’s letter and recalls Manitoba relief after 1950 flood.

Mid year review by Mayor Stewart E. McLean outlines 1957 budget details. The Dauphin fair light horse and pony show drew notable entries from Lilla Gord Stables Homecrest Farms McCallum's Pony Ranch and J Ross Stables. Lilla Gord's Park Lane won champion saddle horse with Lil Williamson riding. Canwick Tom won best paired saddle horses ridden by a lady and gentleman. McCallum's Quicksilver won saddle pony championship. Eleanor McCallum captured the Betty Strang trophy for best rider under 14.
