Hospital Advisory Commission Named in Manitoba
The Health Services Act appoints a three year representative to the Hospital Advisory Commission for Manitoba. Hor George Johncorn, Minister of Health and Welfare, represents Dauphin and the Assorted Hospitals of Manitoba. Mr Gardner is noted for long local hospital service. The minister says the Advisory Commission work will align with Willard report hospital construction recommendations.

Rural Council Seeks Farm Feed Grain Held Under 30 Percent
Dauphin rural council reports only 311 of an expected farmer base filled the survey on hay and feed grain and water supplies. The 311 respondents own 7 276 cattle and plan to dispose of 2 090 by October end requiring 182 960 bushels of feed grain. Stored grain totals 72 085 bushels with an average 14 bushels per animal. A July 11 meeting approved arrangements with the Canadian Wheat Board to hold 200 000 bushels.

Four H-ers Shine at Dauphin Regional Rally Parade
Crowds of about five thousand gathered at Mackenzie school ground for Dauphin Agricultural Society 66th annual fair as 4 H clubs from across the region paraded led by standard bearers and bands. Twenty four visiting 4H-ers from the south joined the march, along with 23 clubs and nine floats, with performance by Gilbert Plains band Dauphin Boys and Girls' band and majorettes. D J Dave Hill praised the participants for their community spirit and effort as the day opened with Oo Canada and a show ring display.

The Dauphin Agricultural society hosted a supper for 24 North Dakota 4H youths at the Boulevard hotel with guests including Hon. Stewart McLean minister of education Ed Somers Manitoba 4H director Bob Forbes and Mrs Blanche Brown Herald reporter Don Dunfield chaired the event and welcomed the visitors praising Dauphin and Manitoba hospitality and inviting future visits.

Rains Boost Prospects for Dauphin Farmers
Heavy rain in the Dauphin area over the past week raised pasture and late crop prospects, easing drought impacts. Agricultural rep D J Hill says over an inch fell since July 11, enabling oats and millet green feed, improving germination, and potentially easing the winter feed shortage for livestock if rains continue.

Ethelbert Sewing Club Wins 4H Rally Top Prize
At the 4H rally parade judging the Ethelbert sewing club earned the Hawkins trophy for marching. Big Woody clothing club from Swan Valley placed second with pastel coordinated outfits. Red ribbons went to Ochre River, Pine River, Gilbert Plains, McCreary, Roblin, Lidstone, Tamarisk, and Magnet clubs. Vermillion calf club won the float Bull prize.

19 Firsts At Grandview Exhibitor Top Industrial Hall Prize List

Doreen Lock, a 4H member, won top honors in the 16 and under class for her herb work. Concrete Lanes Opened in Dauphin Block
Dauphin opened its first concrete surfaced lane in the business block between First and Second avenues NW. Construction began mid June with pouring July 7 amid a 90 degree day. The 16 foot wide lane was back-filled last weekend and cement pouring continues between First and Second avenues NE. Town council authorized paving along Main street blocks between First and Third avenues south.

Two wheel chairs were donated to St Pauls Home in Dauphin by the Dauphin Ukrainian Catholic Womens League. The chairs were bought with proceeds from a smorgasbord held in early March and presented by Mrs Wm Smi gelski with Rev Dean Goucharyk and Sister Gabrielle expressing thanks.
