Progress Report on Town Sewage Lagoon Project

Town council received a progress report from Underwood McLellan & Associates on the sewage lagoon project. Work on the lagoon dikes neared completion by June 30 with minor areas pending final grading and control chamber work. June saw density tests confirming adequate compaction, with total excavation estimated near 200 000 to 205 000 cubic yards. Trunk sewer progress was steady, with completion of the effluent line to the lagoon nearly finished and a 60 percent buildout of the 24 inch trunk sewer from the lift station to town.

Weather Notes Show Fair Week With Mixed Rain Hopes

Monster Rummage Sale Aids Artificial Ice Campaign

Ukrainian Catholic Youth Choir of Dauphin Featured

The Ukrainian Catholic youth choir of Dauphin organized by Mrs. Metro Kozak sang at the start of the year and at services at the Church of the Resurrection. It showcased talents at the central and northern Manitoba Ukrainian Catholic youth clubs spring convention and during the rally program. The 1962 Dauphin Summer Fair is praised as one of the best, with 750 4H members in a stellar parade and strong attendance. Organizers led by President Howard Campbell express satisfaction after a successful fair featuring 4H day travellers parade stock car races and revived baseball, plus improved industrial and agricultural displays.

Doll Carriage Parade Scores For Popularity

The Dauphin Summer fair featured a doll carriage parade with 13 young entrants on Saturday. Judy Archer, age five, won first place with her pink and white decorated carriage and doll named Janette, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Archer. Kathy McCormack, five, in blue plaid with doll Cindy, earned second place, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terry McCormack. Dauphin Summer Fair 4H Rally Sets Club Record

Crowds marched with 750 4H leaders and youths representing 47 clubs in Dauphin on Thursday July 12 the first day of the summer fair. Floats bands and majorettes led by the 4H ensignia and parade marshal opened a day of judging displays and a club concert with awards for top points and best demonstrations across sewing citizenship livestock foods and safety.

4H Rally Results Showcases Montrose Style Parade Winners

The 4H rally judged parades with McCreary Clothing Club winning first prize for their green blouses and white skirts with deeper green shamrocks. Gilbert Plains calf club took second in smart uniforms. Red ribbons went to several clubs including Swanee Snappy Snippers and Fork River clothing, while Mountview Swine club won the float trophy. The Bank of Nova Scotia trophy went to Gilbert Plains beef calf club for rally displays.

Ethelbert born Senator William Wall dies at 50

Senator William Wall of Ethelbert, Manitoba an educationist and first Canadian of Ukrainian descent to sit in the senate died Saturday at age 50. Born 1911 in Ethelbert he earned degrees from the University of Manitoba and Yale and held multiple principal posts before his senate appointment. He married Latba Bozyk in Vita in 1932.
