Stamp Drive Draws Dauphin Citizens To Theatre
Dauphin residents packed the Dauphin and Gay Theatres for a Stamp Out Hitler drive raising five hundred dollars in war savings stamps. Admission was free with two stamps. many were turned away as seats sold out. FP Wright led advance ticket sales with volunteers organizing canvassers, and local artists performed. Mayor J E Ramsden chaired the program, praising organizers and noting the community’s war effort.

Brother of Mrs M Zworon Escapes Dunkirk
Dr Burton Yuill, brother of Mrs M Zworon, was evacuated from Dunkirk six weeks ago. He sent a June 4 message from England confirming safe arrival with no injuries. Born in Gilbert Plains, he served in the Imperial Army medical corps and had been in France since October last year. The Yuill family in Dauphin recalls his ordeal and escape.

Fully Mechanized Artillery Battery Visits Dauphin
More than 300 officers and men with 30 mechanized transports and four 18 pounder field guns toured Dauphin entering from the south about 10 30 Wednesday morning after a night in Riding Mountain National Park. Major H E Wright saluted at the cenotaph with Major J E Ramsden and Lieut Col O McGuirk present as the unit paraded along Main Street. The tour aimed to show a fully trained fighting force and to train HQ staff in servicing equipment and feeding men on the march. The 91111 battery comprises Calgary Vancouver and Nelson crews. a second battery from Winnipeg and Regina will visit Dauphin Friday morning.
