The city approves 272 meters to start Aug 11 for short term parking in business districts. One cent per twelve minutes or five cents per hour, with weekdays 10 am to 6 pm and Saturdays to 9 pm. Free at other times. Rab cabs and commercial loading free always. Most spaces one hour. eight spaces near the post office capped at twelve minutes. Hydro Accident Near Here Kills Carberry Man
Clarence M. Robinson 38 of Carberry was killed and John M. Clark 36 of Kelwood injured in a hydro pole erection accident nine miles west of Dauphin near Ashville junction. A 33 000 volt line sparked a ground fault during pole removal, Robinson fatally charged while operating the hydraulic lift. Clark suffered burns and was hospitalized in good condition. Robinson, married with three children, had worked for Manitoba Power Commission from Carberry for four years.

Sgt Max Scheer Retires From RCMP After 23 Years Service
Sgt Max C Scheer of the R C M P retires after 23 years in service leaving Dauphin Manitoba where he led the town station since 1942. Born in Madawakia Ontario he joined the force in 1929 at Ottawa and served in Winnipeg Fort William Fort Frances Port Arthur Kenora Russell and Dauphin. Leaders praised his quiet conscientious work and he received a lazy boy chair as a retirement token with a fishing rod and tackle for the Dauphin sub division and congratulations from officers and colleagues.
